Sabino likely to attend Tech-Miami game; Watts offered by Tech

Published on: 10/09/07 9:56 PM

Linebacker Etienne Sabino of Dr. Michael M. Krop High in Miami will make his third visit to Columbus, Ohio on Oct. 20 when Ohio State plays host to Michigan State.

Sabino, rated the fifth-best middle linebacker in the nation by Scout.com, is considering scholarship offers from Florida, Georgia Tech, Miami, North Carolina, Ohio State and Southern Cal.

The 6-foot-3, 230-pounder will likely watch two of his candidates play in his backyard on Saturday.

“I’m thinking about going to see Georgia Tech play against Miami this weekend,” he said.

Sabino remains impressed with the Jackets despite their 3-3 record.

“I like their attack style defense,” he said. “It gives you a lot of opportunities to make plays.

“As far as the start, they’ve played some pretty tough teams. To me, that’s not a big issue.”

The coveted linebacker is expected to pick his college in just over five weeks.

“I think my commitment will be around the 13th of November,” Sabino said.

Watts hopes to carry on Washington County tradition

Washington County junior Brandon Watts, who has an offer from Georgia Tech, continues to be recruited heavily by programs from the SEC.

“I’m getting a lot of letters from Georgia, Florida, Auburn and Alabama”, the 6-foot-2, 220-pound linebacker/safety said Tuesday evening.

Watts, who was a guest of Tech during the Jackets’ 13-3 victory over Clemson last month, said it’s too soon for him to consider a commitment.

“It’s a little early, but I like Georgia Tech a lot,” he said.

Watts believes he can fit into Tech coach Chan Gailey’s program.

“I haven’t been around coach Gailey too much, but I think I can play for him,” Watts said. “I hear he’s a good guy.”

Part of Watts’ motivation to succeed comes from Washington County graduates Takeo Spikes, Robert Edwards and Terrance Edwards who went on to enjoy success on the college and professional level.

“They inspire me a lot to keep the tradition going,” Watts said.

Virginia Tech courting Gainesville’s Adetona

Gainesville’s Tyler Adetona and Gerald Ford continue to be among the most productive receivers in the state.

The duo has accounted for more than 1,400 reception yards in the Red Elephant’s potent offense.

Adetona, who has just over 760 yards and eight touchdowns, enjoyed a trip to Middle Tennessee State on Saturday.

“It was nice,” Adetona said. “I was just trying to get up there and see the place. They lost, but they really impressed me.

“Middle Tennessee State was my first offer. I see potential there for them to be a great team.”

Virginia Tech is beginning to show interest in Adetona. The Hokies are expected to have a recruiting coach in attendance on Friday when Gainesville plays Flowery Branch.

Adetona listed his current top six choices as Indiana, Middle Tennessee State, North Carolina, N.C. State, Troy and Virginia Tech.

Is Washington County LB Brandon Watts related to former Georgia OL Seth Watts, whom I believe also attended Washington County High School? If so, is Brandon Watts interested in UGA?

AJC-If these blogs are meant to be forums for discussions about sports, then please limit them to such.

Comments by idiots, who continue to make juvenile comments, such as those about “tickle piles,” have no place on these blogs. Your staff obviously read these posts. Please remove these irrelevant comments so that those of us who are serious about sports comments can continue to appreciate the AJC providing these forums.

To those who want to continue to post these types of moronic comments, return to kindergarten, where your humor might be appreciated. Based on many past comments, I think I speak for a vast majority of us when I say that we are sick and tired of you.

The previous post by Glenn was just a joke. He would like to inform everyone in the bloggosphere that he’ll be the first person to organize the next TICKLE PILE at Georgia Tech!!! Furthermore, he’d like to inform everyone that he’s promised to stop drinking four pots of coffee everyone morning and cut way back on the number of packs of unfiltered cigarettes he smokes.

Another LB would be nice, but a couple of “lock-down” cornerbacks would be a coup for GT.

Again, AJC, I think I speak for all real sports fans, regardless of what team they support, when I say that moronic comments that have nothing to do with these blogs should be banned from these sites. This includes the idiots who keep referring to “tickle piles’ at Tech and “spooning” at UGA.

Mekvertickleiben, to you, and all of your childish friends, all I will say is that you need to grow up. You are not humorous, or witty, and any attempts to insult me continue to expose your underdeveloped mind.

I have chosen not to engage you in a full war of words because it just wouldn’t be sport. It is obvious that a challenge of that nature wouldn’t be competitive as you are playing with a pea shooter and not very challenging for me as I am a former 4-Year Letterman in Football at a BCS University, who went on to complete a Law Degree at an ABA accredited Law School. Go back to your toy box and leave us adults alone.

Now if anyone wants to try to have an honest discussion about a relevant sports topic, or ask a relevant question, like DaddyDawg, please, do so.

Hi I’m Glenn and for some strange reason instead of having one ‘n’ in my name, I have two. That second ‘n’ makes me important.

I Lettered at a BCS school as a Waterboy for the football team, which provided an ample base for me to become a lawyer. Many would consider this profession a half a notch above trash collecting, however that’s because those individuals aren’t elitists.

I urge everyone to read my posts and not concluded that I’m wrapped tighter than a Cricket ball. My pyschosis is only midly associated with the Howitzer I use to drive home points. If I read one more item in this blog about TICKLE PILES I may tell everyone my height and weight and how much I belong in the UFC.

Once again my name is Glenn, please continue to engage me so I can feel special.

Glenn, Actually, this idiot is a complete loser. He was rejected by GA Tech and is now at Emory. GA Tech didn’t want him as a baseball player (or a student) and so he is very bitter. He comes on the ajc regularly. It is amazing how much GA Tech must have hurt this poor boy. I pity him. I guess Tech has scarred him for life.

JustMe, I don’t care if he is an Emeroid, UGA fan, Tech fan, Auburn fan, or a Barbie fan (my guess), (s)he has no place on these sites. As I indicated before, little boy “Mekvertickleiben,”talk sports or take a nap before you mommy spanks you and puts you to bed with no dessert.

And Rich, can we all just please stop with the spooner and Ugay comments as well? Why can’t everyone just grow up or go post somewhere else? Believe it or not, some of us are actually interested in having a real, two way, conversation about relevant sports topics that are introduced by the AJC’s blogs rather than having to deal with selfish boors such as those like Mekvertickleiben, or whatever (s)he will call himself/herself tomorrow.

I love Tech. I’m a Tech fan. I proudly wear the Gold & Blue to work everyday, where my boss (who’s from UGA) compliments me on my sporty pocket protector and compass.

Tech most likely will have a top 15 class. If we get all our top prospects we most likely will be 8-12. Look for 6-8 4 stars with the rest being 3 stars. The overall depth at this class is going to be tremendous.
