Reeves interested in Vols; Poole eyeing South Carolina

Published on: 10/07/07 10:17 PM

Stone Mountain receiver Charles Reeves Jr. continues to consider scholarship offers from Auburn, Florida, Ole Miss, North Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia Tech.

Reeves will likely wait until near the end of the season to make a decision.

Without declaring Tennessee his front-runner, Reeves made clear his feelings for the Volunteers.

“I love the Tennessee program,” Reeves said. “It’s like one big happy family up there.”

Poole losing interest in Tennessee?

Stephens County running back Tauren Poole, who has committed to Tennessee, hasn’t entirely ruled out an offer from South Carolina.

“Tennessee is my first school,” Poole said. “But I just take it one day at a time. As it turns out, I’m a Volunteer right now.

“But I’m interested in South Carolina. They’ve got a running back leaving and one coming back. I think it’d be a plus for me coming in there as a freshman.”

Difficult decision ahead for Chamblee’s Loftley

Central Florida, Duke, South Carolina and Vanderbilt are the front-runners in the recruitment of Chamblee defensive lineman Taylor Loftley.

“There are definitely things I like about each school,” Loftley said. “It will be a hard decision.

“But I want to make the right decision. Ultimately, it will come down to where I feel most comfortable.

“I originally wanted to make my decision before the season, but it got busy with school and the season. It will probably be toward the end of the year now.”

Ward favoring South Carolina

Mt. Zion, Jonesboro running back Martin Ward is inching closer to a commitment to South Carolina.

“I’m leaning toward South Carolina,” Ward confirmed.

Ward, who briefly committed to Georgia earlier this year, said he’s also considering Clemson, Louisville and North Carolina.

The Gamecocks are his new front-runner, thanks in part to coach Steve Spurrier.

“It’s all about the coaching staff,” Ward said. “Coach Spurrier has a lot of energy, and he brings it to the field.

“He’s a real good guy. And the schemes he runs is the reason they’re winning. It’s very exciting.”

Taylor Loftley come to UCF, We need DE in the worst way and you can be first class to play in new stadium from day one. Come watch a game in our new house and you will see the difference in the schools. At USC you will be Spuriers backup plan. At Duke you will never win and at Vandy, well its Vandy.

Dawgs will need to show some improvement before years end to hold this class together. you cannot stop the bloggers and we are circling the wagons in Athens now. We have got to show some life, passion, fire, gang tackling. I can take any lose if i see All that. The recruits are watching. We are young. And we will grow. And learn. Come to Athens guys.

Why would any player want to go to ugay?

Doesn’t everyone see that they have regularly gotten top recruiting classes every year, and yet they cannot put together a decent season? Why would a player want to go to a place where their talent is wasted?

On top of that, ugay is a campus where the players regularly get jailed for DUI or worse!

Our teams may not live up to the recruiting class rankings and we do have a lot of players arrested, but we graduate more players than almost ANYWHERE! I mean less than anyone in the sec or acc, but…….you can’t play football, get drunk and still have time to study! Coach Richt really cares about the players! That is until their eligiblity is up. Go Dawgs dominate the gators!

Vandy does very well considering that their athletes are required to spell and know the alphabet. Can’t say that about any other SEC program - I don’t even think normal “students” at South Carolina generally know how to spell. So - at Vandy you’d get an education, get to be a part of an up-and-coming program (See Jay Cutler, Earl Bennett, UGA last season)…and go to one of the only SEC schools with a good basketball program! In Nashville - the greatest SEC city of all!

You UGA recruits, pay attention to the way these guys play. Offensive cordinator, BoBo hasn’t put a good offensive gameplan togeather all year. South Carolina has Spurrier calling the plays and we’re winning and ranked. USC is hot UGA is not.

Whoever that was that stated that UGA graduates more than anyone else is totally mis-informed…an article just came out within the last week stating that UGA was dead last in the SEC in terms of player graduation rates…

KB, QUIT BRAGGING. AFTER HARVARD AND YALE THE BEST SO-CALLED UNIVERSITIES ARE LITTLE BETTER THAN JUNIOR COLLEGES FOR SEMI-LITERATES.

KB says Vandy is the only SEC school with a good basketball program….um, who was it that won the NCAA title the last two years? I hear Kentucky isn’t bad either. Maybe they don’t play in the SEC during hoops season.

Isn’t “briefly committed” an oxymoron…

The ONLY reason a recruit would chose another school over UGA is because our academics are too hard - always in the top 5 schools in the country. Some kids just don’t want to work that hard in the classroom. Dawgs will be fine with our winningist tradetion of any college team, we’ll get enough recruits.

Anybody who thinks Steve Spurrier is a “great guy,” should immediately commit to South Carolina. I am sure QB Blake Mitchell is glad he did.

As for Philip Fullmer— is there a bigger cry baby in any sport? A “big” happy family, huh? How many Vols have been in trouble in the last year?

These 17-year old “phenoms” are clueless— and I, for one, am tired of caring where any of them go to college— or anything else about them for that matter. No other high school seniors pick their future college the way these guys do.

to all you uga haters. -USC You are having your best season in 23 years and you think that you have the right to brag. The only reason why is because everyone else is rebuilding. It won’t be long until you are back at the bottom. -UT You beat up on our young dawgs ,cool you guys showed up to play ,but your program is still on the decline; like it or not. In case you haters did not know we still have the #2 recruiting class so far.

Blake Mitchell signed with Holtz. USC has 24 freshmen and sophomores on their 2 deep including Cook, Norwood, Geathers, Smelley, Abijoye, Munnerlyn, and a bunch of linemen. UGA likes to say they are young but they are not as young as USC (hardly no one in the SEC is, save UF). Get used to it. South Carolina is going to be good for a while.
