Tech in the running for Reamon; Simmons ponders Florida visit

Published on: 09/13/07 9:52 PM

Quarterback Tommy Reamon Jr. (6-1, 198-pounds) of Gloucester, Va. is considering scholarship offers from Buffalo, East Carolina, Georgia Tech, Missouri, Northern Illinois and Old Dominion.

“Georgia Tech is still on my list,” said Reamon, who visited Tech as a junior during the spring of 2006. “It’s a good environment, with it being in the city of Atlanta.

“And they have a great coaching staff. I got to talk to a lot of the players when I visited. Georgia Tech has a lot of good things going for it.”

Simmons may visit the Gators

Banneker safety Darrell Simmons continues to lean toward a commitment to Miami.

But the 6-foot-1, 201-pound Simmons is contemplating a visit to defending national champion Florida.

Simmons, who made the trek to Gainesville during his junior season, is a big fan of Florida coach Urban Meyer.

“He’s just a great coach,” said Simmons, who has offers from programs such as Alabama, Florida, Miami, Michigan, Ohio State and Tennessee. “He’s very enthusiastic.”

Simmons said he’s not down on the Canes following their blowout loss to Oklahoma last weekend.

“You can’t win every game,” he said. “Maybe I can go down there and help them.”

Heard County’s Jackson continues recovery

Heard County running back Dontavius Jackson continues to recover from a season-ending injury suffered in the Braves’ season opener two weeks ago.

Jackson, who rushed for 246 yards and three touchdowns on 12 carries before breaking his wrist with two minutes remaining in the first half, is expected to heal by early December.

“The doctors say he’s going to be fine,” Heard County coach Tim Barron said. “It’s probably a three month recovery period for Dontavius.”

Jackson still intends to choose between Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, LSU and Penn State in October.

Wow, Buffalo, East Carolina, Georgia Tech, Missouri, Northern Illinois and Old Dominion. One of these is not like the other…

My first thought was, if those are the only schools that have offered him, somebody at Tech better have a very good eye for talent and/or potential. Alabama, Virginia Tech, Maryland, & NC State are also recruiting him though, so they’re probably waiting to see more of him in his senior season.

Reamon doesn’t have an offer from Tech and is not being considered.

Ask North Carolina! Of course you don’t know who East Carolina is but you are WELL acquainted with South Carolina. I bet the Dawgs wish they had the present ECU quarterback this past weekend and he is our 3rd stringer.

MOTDawg, before you blast Reamon, his coach is the same that coached the Vicks. He says Tommy might be better athletically than both. Times have shown that he’s almost guaranteed to be a better person.

PiRAT, he was not asking who ECU is… He was answering MOTDawg in a Jeopardy fashion “Alex, what is ECU”, in which you answer as a question. No one is questioning ECU, great job so far this year. I’ve loosely followed ECU since the Robert Jones/Jeff Blake days. MOTDawg, answer: Buffalo, I haven’t heard of their BASKETBALL program. LOL Tim, are you contradicting Jeff Hood that Reamon has a scholarship offer from GT?

tim, Scout.com begs to differ. So far, they say that he’s got offers from us, Mizzou, and ECU and interest (but no offer) from Alabama, BC, NC State, and VT.

MOTDawg Ans: You’re right - ECU has developed at least 2 NFL QBs in the last decade. Don’t forget David Garrard, who has already had a better QB than, say, Quincy Carter. Idiots.

I hope Gt is not going to waste a schlorship on a Qb thats deciding on Buffalo, or ODU or GT,

gte578e, The same coach who helped develop and contribute to the mentoring for the Vick boys? Did that same coach show them how to smoke pot and kill dogs? Oh, and gtNC, don’t forget about such “great” Ga Tech QBs, like George Godsey, A.J. Suggs and Reggie Ball…..did any of them even take an NFL snap…..I didn’t think so. Technerds are so jacked up on themselves with 2 wins against Notre Dame who couldn’t beat their way out of a wet paper bag and Samford.

Vicks’ Legacy, Why do you jump on gte578e? He was complimenting the coach that taught Vick. R u high?

A little sensitive there? Just pointing out ignorant (UGA) fans making (more) ignorant comments by insulting QBs at schools like ECU that have had better NFL QBs recently than their own school. Oh - and why did you stop your GT list at Godsey? Oh yeah, probably because the guy before him finished 2nd in Heisman voting. Nice try. p.s. How’s that victory over OSU looking now?

Jeff Tommy Reamon does not have an offer from Georgia Tech…ask around GT.

Hey Vicks’ Legacy you ignorant putz. To throw George Godsey in the same breath as Ball and Suggs truly shows how much GT QB knowledge you have. You use him as a slam. He didn’t play in the NFL but he’s still the second most prolific QB in Tech history and one of the top 10 in ACC history (he’s actually in the top 20 but considering he only started 2 seasons makes that even more remarkable…meaning he’s really one of the top 10 best of all time).

Dude….grab a book….any book….read more.

Take your own advice and read more there Tech Forever. He was responding to a comment from a Tech fan about who had created more NFL quarterbacks. Glad George Godsey did so well in college, but he did not do a damn thing in the NFL. You really are the igonorant putz if you actually think Godsey was one of the 10 best QBs of all time.

Dude……Grab hold of reality……get a clue!

Hey gtNC, our victory over osu is looking about like your victory over notre dame. Its so funny, you halfwit dunderhead. He wasnt bashing ecu’s QB’s. Get a real job and call me in the morning. Cretin.

Did the Real Taylor Bennett show up Saturday night? That’s what i thought. Finally, he played against a fair defense at home and was exposed!

Kendall, uh, cretin? Do you even know what that means? The point was that if ECU is recruiting a QB, maybe there’s potential there. Schools like them and Tech for that matter, do a whole lot more with a whole lot less. Richt is a great guy, but I would expect a lot more from them with the athletes he gets.
