Tech among Page’s favorites; Thompson visits LSU

Published on: 09/12/07 10:33 PM

Kenneth Page of A.C. Flora High in Columbia, S.C., rated the nation’s 11th-best guard prospect by Scout.com, is considering scholarship offers from Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Georgia Tech, Maryland, North Carolina, Notre Dame, South Carolina, Stanford and Tennessee.

“They’re all pretty much even right now,” the 6-foot-4, 290-pound Page said, when asked to declare a front-runner.

Page, who will be at Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia on Saturday when South Carolina hosts South Carolina State, attended the Gamecocks and Clemson’s season openers earlier this month.

“Clemson’s atmosphere was a lot louder,” he said. “But look at who they were playing against [Florida State]. It was the Bowden bowl.”

Page said he is fond of Tech.

“I like their location there in Atlanta,” he said. “And they’ve got a great football program.”

Thompson takes in LSU

Thomasville defensive tackle Brandon Thompson enjoyed the sights and sounds of LSU’s blowout victory over Virginia Tech on Saturday in Baton Rouge.

“I really liked the atmosphere of their stadium,” Thompson said. “It was really amazing.

“I got to talk to a couple of the coaches before the game. I like the school.”

Thompson, who is scheduled to be at Bobby Dodd Stadium when Tech hosts Clemson on Sept. 29, will be a guest of South Carolina on Saturday when the Gamecocks entertain South Carolina State.

“I really don’t know what to expect at South Carolina,” he said. “I just want to go over there and have a good time.”

With offers from Clemson and Tech in his recruiting portfolio, Thompson is especially eager for the ACC showdown in downtown Atlanta later this month.

“I think Georgia Tech has a great team with a potent offense,” Thompson said.

Riverdale’s Glenn still searching

After narrowing his choices to Alabama, Georgia, LSU and South Carolina in August, Riverdale tackle Cordy Glenn anticipated an early September commitment.

But the 6-foot-5, 310-pound Glenn appears weeks away from choosing a college.

“There’s really nothing new,” he said. “I’m still looking.”

Glenn, who is still working to set up Saturday visits, said he wasn’t shocked by South Carolina’s road victory over Georgia last weekend.

“I really wasn’t surprised,” he said. “South Carolina has a good team. It was just a tough ballgame.”

K. Page - We would welcome you to Atlanta and to GA Tech! You will gain great football experience and knowledge from coaches, get a great college education, and also experience the ‘fun’ of being in the middle of a big city while living on a college campus.

As I have visited many other colleges, I have not seen any other college atmosphere like Tech’s. GA Tech has a separate and well defined campus from the City, and yet is in the middle of the City. A student can choose to remain on campus and apart from the City, or they can choose to venture into Atlanta.

GA State is a City college, but it’s campus is integrated into the City and a student cannot get away from it. The same is said for other City colleges like Boston College, etc.

Colleges like Clemson, Auburn, or UGAG are small town colleges. But, GA Tech really does offer the best of both worlds.

Typical Jacket: Look below the comment box- “There will be a delay of up to 5 minutes before your comment appears.” Learn some patience.

Also- way to sell him off Ga. State- I’m sure he’s looking there.

JustMe:

Notice how UGA isn’t even listed among the offers he’s considering yet you still find the need to mention “UGAG” in your list of schools…how pathetic. Anyone who’s been to the Tech campus knows that GT definitely doesn’t offer the best of both worlds…it’s a city school through and through. However, I will attest that the atmosphere certainly is unique…about half of the student body cares anything about sports and a stadium that is 3/4 full on a good day…hilarious.

Boosters communicating with recruits is illegal under the NCAA rules. Sucking up is worse, hitting the post button more than once calls for your school to get the death penalty.

To JustMe Can’t Read - U r a real jerk. When problems occur with servers, repeat messages appear. It has nothing to do with the user. I did not re-post.

To The Truth - I did graduate from GA Tech and I do speak from experience. Obviously you have never been an on-campus student there. GA Tech’s campus is very separate from the City that surrounds it. U r an idiot. I used UGAG as another example like Auburn and like Clemson - it is in a small town that is basically a ‘college town.’ The GA State example, like Boston College, is where a campus is incorporated into the City - very different from GA Tech.
