Toby Jackson’s plan: ‘Keep everybody guessing’

Toby Jackson is going to know where he wants to play his college football pretty soon.
But the Griffin defensive lineman isn’t going to tell anybody until much later.
“I like to keep it a secret,” Jackson said. “[I want to] keep everybody guessing. I’m not going to say anything until after the season, close to signing day.”
Until that time he is going to continue to entertain most of the big schools in the Southeast. Right now those schools at or near the top of his list include Georgia, Tennessee, Florida State and Alabama.
“I like a lot of different coaches right now, but after talking to them for a while some of them start to say the same thing and you are like, ‘I just heard that from another coach,’ ” Jackson said.
What Jackson is hearing a lot of are opinions on what position he will play at the next level. Alabama sees the 6-foot-4, 244-pounder as a defensive end. Florida State has said he could be an end or outside linebacker. Tennessee is leaning more toward defensive tackle.
Georgia said it doesn’t matter. The Bulldogs are willing to wait and see what his body does before they put him in a position.
“I’ve still got a lot of growing to do so it is hard to tell where I am going to be,” Jackson said.
Jackson does want to be in a place with a demonstrative coach.
“I like a coach that is really hands on and gets in there with his players,” he said. “Somebody with energy.”

Why is this article on the TECH page? This guy doesn’t even know if a 5th order differential equation exists, which is why he’s looking at these car dealership schools.
Puhlease, give us some decent TECH stories you journalism majors.

Certainly Joe Hamilton could work a 5th order differential equation. Why take a shot at a high school kid? Nothing but class on North Avenue … .

No, He probably doesn’t. But I would guess he knows a LOT more about Football than you do, Mr. Almighty SanDiegoJacket. Let me guess: Which one is MORE relevant to the Game of Football?? Humm…. You figure it out Smart Guy.

What exactly is a Tech story? Texas Instruments coming out with a new “easy grip” calculator? Maybe a new kevlar pocket protecter on the market? We talk about football here. Maybe you should work on an equation that will help Tech beat UGA. You can use these numbers: 16 games vs. UGA since 1991. 3 wins. Get to work.

If Jackson goes to Tennessee, Tennessee will kick UGA’s butt. If Jackson goes to Alabama, Alabama will kick UGA’s butt. If Jackson goes to UGA, Alabama and Tennessee will still kick UGA’s butt.

Guru if you cannot come up with anything more original than that I believe I would restrain from “venting”. Shallow and very adolescent of you.

GURU: Another ‘Smart Guy’ we have here, huh?? Let me see…In this Decade TENN has played UGA 7 times; record UGA 5, TENN 2. Also this Decade ALA has played UGA 2 times, or ‘Twice’ (which ever you prefer), and the Record?? UGA 2, ALA 0. TECH??? Let’s just say Tech is 0-6 against Richt & Co. Now, go add that up. If you need help, Reggie will be of great assistance. You can find him bagging at your local Kroger.

Hey Clif, Kenny broke his hand on Cordy Glenn’s head and still played the whole game. If he was able to use both hands, Riverdale QB would have been sack five times. GRIFFIN WON THE GAME

If he wants to keep everyone guessing I’d turn the tables on him. I’d wait until he commits and let him know his offer was revoked. UGA doesn’t need Prima-Donnas!!!

Personally I’m not sure that I like Jackson’s answers to some questions. If he is going to know fairly soon, then why not let it be known. It’s not going to stop schools from recruiting him. I understand that this type of situation comes along once in a life time. But, his answers just seems like he is taking advantage of it.
