Top 100 list out: UGA recruit Green No. 3

Published on: 04/16/07 3:04 PM

The third-best high school football player in the class of 2008 will suit up for Georgia.

So says Scout.com, which today released its first batch of top 100 junior rankings. No. 3 on the list: Summerville, S.C., wide receiver A.J. Green, who has said he’ll sign with Mark Richt’s Bulldogs in February.

Other notes of interest:

— Green isn’t the only UGA recruit on Scout’s list. Statesboro defensive tackle Deangelo Tyson is ranked No. 24 overall. Georgia target Tyler Love, an offensive tackle from Mountain Brook, Ala., checks in at No. 56.

— The top-ranked overall player — uncommitted Wichita, Kan., middle linebacker Arthur Brown — lists Georgia among his long list of options, along with Florida, Florida State, Kansas State, Michigan, Oklahoma and Southern Cal.

— Tyson is one of three Georgians among Scout’s top 100. Others: Cedar Grove wide receiver Josh Jarboe (No. 51) and Jefferson County lineman A.J. Harmon (No. 62).

— The top-ranked quarterback is Terrelle Pryor of Jeannette, Pa., who has yet to pick a school. Among his main suitors: Clemson, Florida, Nebraska, Ohio State, Penn State, Pitt and West Virginia.

— Thirty-nine of Scout’s top 100 juniors have picked a college.

— After an off-year, Bobby Bowden and Florida State are off to a strong start, already landing commitments from three of Scout’s top 100 juniors: linebacker Nigel Bradham (No. 16, Crawfordville, Fla.); linebacker Nigel Carr (No. 71, Jacksonville); and safety C.J. Holton (No. 93, Crawfordville, Fla.).

— Oklahoma has more top-100 commitments (six) than any school. The Sooners’ Big 12 rival, Texas, is next with five.

— Ohio State and Southern Cal have four top-100 commitments.

— FSU, Nebraska, Notre Dame and UCLA have three apiece.

— Georgia is the only school with two.

— Programs with one: BYU, Clemson, Michigan, Missouri, Texas A&M and Washington.

— Remarkably, Florida has no top-100 commitments.

Any Tech recruit (obviously none from the Top 100) welcome to Tech! You don’t even have to go to class because Tech is just fine with playing academically ineligible players! As an added bonus, you can look forward to four more losses to UGA, maybe five if you redshirt.

To think that a recruting analyst can rank HS juniors accurately is rediculous. Unless you’re dealing with the infamous 19 year old senior, a player changes so much in both his maturity level and physique between his junior and senior year that you have no idea who the best players will be until after their senior season has been played.

Caleb King need only maintain his GPA this last semester to be eligible. Nice try RambleOn.

As for A.J. Green, I can’t say I disagree. I’ll gladly take him after a year at Hargrave to beef up, however.

Also, you forget Caleb had an offer from GT. What happened to those absurdly high academic requirements they’re always blaming for poor recruiting?

Look forward to seeing you at UGA next year, AJ!! Umm, btw…if you have any old books lying around the house that your family is not using…couldja bring ‘em with you? Yeah, we’re still re-stocking our library after that fire we had a couple years back. You remember it? BOTH of our books…destroyed. Readers Digest Condensed novels are a favorite, (and Highlights magazine, too).

I’ll believe A.J. Green is coming to Ga. when he signs the dotted line. If anyone thinks that SOS won’t be on him or isn’t already on him like white on rice then I have to wonder what they’re smoking. I to have read where his commit is soft and that SOS has pointed out how few WRs the Dawgs have in the NFL. Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t Green himself say something about this subject?……ugalaw, that’s my understanding about King and that his SAT score was fine. According to Rivals he’s moving to Athens June 1st……I just have a hard time having much confidence in these early commits; however, we do seem to have a couple that are really strong.

Just for the sake of argument let’s say that Georgia is a terrible school that for some reason nobody can qualify to get into and that is because the players are too dumb to fill out an application. Fine. This is a sports section. The debate about the debate team, the math club, the chess team and best hand job while doing derivative calculus contest are for some other place. Those who comment about irrelevant matters simply don’t want to discuss the matter at hand: football. If what you have to say doesn’t concern football, please take your p** colored, pimple faced, taped glasses loser a* somewhere else. Thank you.

UGA Law you are dead wrong. Tech was looking at King but they never officially offered. Even if they had, it would have been rescinded. Why don’t you ask Jacoby Monroe if Tech pays attention to academics with their recruits?

George P. Burdell — Caleb King received a written, official offer from Georgia Tech. Also, what about Reggie Ball and his 840 on the SAT? You didn’t rescind his offer.

My, my, what tough standards they have.

On another note, the Braves were infuriating tonight.

The reports about Green being a soft commit were from “sources close to Green.” About 3 days later Green came out and personally said that those rumors were not true and reiterated the fact that he was 100% commited to UGA.

This quote was from the Times Free Press (www.timesfreepress.com) and is a direct quote: “I’ve heard the rumors, and they’re not true,” Green said. “I knew this might be something that would come along with this, but I’m prepared to handle it. I’m committed to Georgia. If I have to say that 10 times between now and next February, then that’s what I’ll do. If I have to say it 100 or 1,000 times, then that’s what I’ll do.

“Anything anybody hears or reads about me not going to Georgia is not true.”

Another, more recent article is posted here. Again with direct quotes from Green.

I’m not at all concerned about an A.J. Green de-commitment. He’s as solid as anyone on our list. Rambo, Ward, and Allen concern me. Maybe Boykin too to some extent.

I’m far more concerned about losing A.J. Green to academics than to another school.

My favorite commitment thusfar is Samuel. I like him as the #1 player in Georgia, even ahead of Tyson.

By MadMerf

April 17, 2007 12:56 AM | Link to this

I remember reading Green’s comments after the brief “scare” and yes he was quick to extinguish those rumors. Other schools will continue to pursue him, as they will pursue every other committed top prospect in the nation. I still like Mack Brown’s rule at Texas: Committed players are not allowed official visits to other schools. Some people may not agree, but IMO either you’re committed or you’re not.

I, too, was shocked not to see Samuel in the top 30, much less 100. He has been labled a sure 5-star RB. His absence reminds us how different Rivals and Scout ratings are. I remember last year Rivals had Reshad Jones as the #1 safety prospect in the nation, while Scout listed him as the #13 player at his position. We shall see.

I also found it interesting that along with commits from Green and Tyson, the #1 overall prospects in SC and GA respectively, UGA is receiving interest from 14 other top 100 national recruits, compared to a mere 3 interested in Tech (including AJ Harmon, a strong UGA lean).

Despite UF’s recent success, I expect both FSU and Miami to make a quick recovery in this year’s recruiting wars. With Amato and Fisher aboard in Tallahassee, they should regain control of that state.

My heart goes out to Hokie Nation as the country mourns their tragedy. More reason to worry about our kids in college.

Not only did A.J. Green reassert his commitment to UGA, but he also made a comment about “the best” going to UGA and doing whatever he can to make sure that is the case. Other recruiters will have a hard time pulling him away from UGA when it sounds like he will be helping UGA recruit.

Keep the Blacksburg community in your prayers.

Why are techies so gay? Go build a freaking bridge or something man and leave football to the big boys. My roommate at UGA transferred from GT and proceeded to fail out of school in less than one year. Reggie Ball, another fine example of an academic specimen…couldn’t count to 4. Just so we’re on the same page…every, EVERY D-1 school has the SAME academic standards when it comes to admitting athletes. These standards can be raised by the school itself, which is something that Stanford or Brown participates in, but not you guys, you’re just a trade school with a bumble bee on your sidelines. The only problem with my whole statement is that it should be written in Chinese or Arabic for more than 10 of your students to fully understand it.

What is the only school in the ACC and SEC that did not have an official spring GAME? you got it, tech Come to think of it one big reason to have a spring game is to give the fans a little something between dec and sept so I can understand why tech would not want to risk injury to their players just for 100-200 fans. By Vince Dooley

All UGA can do is boast and breakdown the recruiting, but the bottom line is, UGA cannot groom what they have. UGA is the only school that can take some of the top recruits in the nation and F them up royally.

It is not all about recruiting, but improving on what you obtain and maximizing the return, which is what OU, FSU, Miami and Southern Cal can do with what they get. UF is a great example of supreme coaching with Meyer. He took over of a program and turned a national title quickly.

To hear all these bulldog bloggers is hilarious!!! I mean fall out of your seat hilarious!! They have no idea how to run with the big dogs, since they have not even been in title contention for the last 27 years.

UGA puts focus on a few key players, but fails to see the major holes in their defensive line and secondary. Martinez will be gone in 2-3 along with CMR, who will grow weary of the barking and impatience around the UGA campus. CMR is posed to take over the Miami job in 5 years or less.

UGA football is a joke, and as ESPN said a few years the most overrated program in D1-A football.

How about this: GT combined record of teams they beat: 48-63

With a whopping win over a Duke team who did not win a game all year. A win over Samford..3-8 A win over Troy..8-5…dang nice job

2 Whopping wins over both N.Carolina teams that where combined 6-18

Your 3 losses at the end of the year speak for itself. Your DRUBBING at Clemson was a lack for a better word FUNNY

Could you please post something of any real nature. How about that for big boys Ramble on….and by big boys I mean “way to beat Duke,N.C.State, North Carolina,Samford. Those are great wins.

If I am not mistaken the 2002 Dawgs had the same exact record as the 2006 Gators, and the 2003 LSU Tigers. A 13-1 Georgia team, and a 14-0 Auburn team aren’t “competing” for national titles while a 13-1 Florida team and a 13-1 LSU team are. That is simply having a great season in the wrong year for two of those teams. I don’t want to hear about Urban Meyer’s superiority when his national title hopes were completely out of his hands at the end of the year. USC beats UCLA, and Florida has to settle for destroying Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl. End of story. And I’m not saying Florida was an unworthy champion, but getting to a national title game in this day and age often requires a few bounces to go your way. So don’t give me that crap.

My, my, the Techies mess up the facts again. UGA one of the most overrated teams? Actually, over the past 18 years, they have been one of the most underrated teams. Tech has been overrated more than UGA: http://preseason.stassen.com/over-under/all-teams.html

I’ll be interested to see how “Vince Dooley” and RambleOn! respond to this. I’m sure they won’t let the facts get in the way of a good argument.

Also, Caleb did have a written, official offer from Tech, no matter how badly you wish to deny it. And I’m still waiting on a Techie to explain to me how they signed Reggie Ball and his 840 on the SAT with such “rigorous” academic requirements.

As a side note, why don’t we do a quick comparison of the average income of a UGA law school graduate with a Tech grad school graduate? The results will be ugly, I assure you.

But what do I know? I’m just a simple man with a 4th grade education who washes ambulances for a living and loves the dawgs.

According to local chat some pretty reliable, says AJ is weak academically and that the commitment to UGA is also weak. I hope not, but it seems this could be a long journey for his services.

Hey ugalaw, please lets compare on how much a UGA Law Grad makes compared to a Tech Engineer Grad; your right, the results are really ugly. I love how UGA guys get their facts, so typical. Try to make the school look good but in the end, makes them look stupid as always. And where did you get your facts about Reggie scoring an 840 on the SAT? What did Reg tell you his score LOL. The only person you need to thank for putting UGA on the Map is Herchel Walker, NOT VINCE! So what are they teching at Athens Community College these days besides basket Weaving anyway?

When it’s all said and done, GT will beat the mangy fleabags this year, and many more considering (getting back to the point of this blog) we now own the state in recruiting. Remember the last class?

The point is, these superstar recruits the mutts get year in and year out, can’t say the freaking alphabet. Listen to the ones who can and get admitted, you need an interpreter. I bet Hargrave could win the SEC East.

The only reason the mutts beat GT the last 3 years is the alum, like ugalaw (the big money makers), bought Reggie. He’s gone, and you know its coming.

Big Dogs…can someone please advise UGA that they have not won a NATIONAL TITLE IN FOOTBALL IN 27 YEARS and that no one really cares about having the 6th best record, or where they rank in terms of recruiting. Just win baby!!! Just win!!!…oh sorry, I forgot I am talking to UGA, who cannot win at nothing but statistics.

OU does not care about statistics just winning titles. Southern Cal does not care about statistics just winning titles. Florida does not care about statistics just winning titles. Miami does not care about statistics just winning titles. FSU does not care about statistics just winning titles. LSU does not care about statistics just winning titles. Alabama does not care about statistics just winning titles.

Here are some UGA football titles:

  • Best SEC school for blue jean shorts
  • Best SEC school for Oakleys
  • Best SEC school for goaties
  • Best SEC school for the most obnoxious barking fans
  • Best SEC school for losing big games to small schools

Ramble on-You have got to be the stupidist person I have ever seen post anything. Once again your posts prove nothing, you allege that Reggie Ball was paid to loose, you state that UGA recruit can’t say the alphabet, you state GT owns the state in recruiting. You also state that Hargrave could win the SEC East.

OK so lets rebut here for a second and not stoop to your level of homo remarks or whetever else it is you are pushing.

May we and the many otjer posters on this site please have the evidence that you have that shows Reggie Ball was payed to loose…..please show us. If you don’t have any evidence…than it just prooves that you are way to bitter to admit that your team got beat fair and square for 4 straight years. Gosh that must make you real bitter huh?

Second-Please show us your evidence or test results that you administered that shows that UGA recruits can’t say the alphabet. I highly doubt that you have it…..but however both Tech and UGA fans both have evidence that Reggie Ball could not count to four….nor could he read a down marker.OUCH THE TRUTH SHALL SET YOU FREE

Third-You claim that GT owns the state in recruting-Funny I don’t see any Georgia players on this list that have committed to Tech. You guys had a very good class this past year..but holy crap ours was still better….THE TRUTH SHALL SET YOU FREE

Fourth-You claim the Hargrave could win the SEC East. Ok first of all we all know that is just an insult. But when was the last time GT won their conference? How many times has might Tech won the mighty ACC. I am not that old…but I can only remember once possibly twice….and you will not find a person or sports fan that would ever believe in a million years that the ACC is even on the same planet as the ACC in football. So no I would ahve to disagree with you and let me hear it from the crowd..if anyone thinks Hargrave can win the SEC East…I mean you guys can’t even with the freakin puny ACC……at least you din’t say Tech could win the SES East…that would have been worse than Hargrave…THE TRUTH SHALL SET YOU FREE….UGA OWNS TECH SLEEP TIGHT MAM

Vince — You seem a little testy about the fact that UGA has been the 6th winnigest program in college football for the past decade. I think you’re a wee bit upset that I completely disproved your “overrated” theory.

“Cannot win at nothing?” Nice use of the English language. Hmmm, I seem to recall a couple of SEC titles. Was I hallucinating?

There’s nothing more hilarious than a Techie jealous of UGA’s success.

Let’s see what Vince can come up with now. Oh, and I’m still waiting on an answer for why Tech signed Reggie Ball with an 840 on the SAT.

Out of all the colleges in the country only 5 had a better last decade. Tech was not close to being one of them so yeah, we’re doing ok. The national title is nice and all but it’s not even a playoff so who really cares. Win each game for the sake of that game and UGA has done a very good job of that for awhile now.

I heard this line in a movie once: “Hatred, it’s the only thing that lasts.”

Nowhere is that more evident than any discussion that involves Georgia Tech and Georgia. One question for ugalaw: What do you call 1,000 lawyers at the bottom of the ocean? Answer: A Good Start. I know it’s an old joke. But look at it this way: What do engineers produce? Bridges, Buildings, Power Plants. What do lawyers produce? Lawsuits, mostly.

But back to football, recruiting and academic requirements. Georgia Tech’s academic requirements are not as different from Georgia’s as many fans of both schools seem to think, but Tech’s narrow curriculum has always put them at a disadvantage when recruiting players, especially kids who have no aspirations to play in the NFL. Georgia fans seem to have an inferiority complex about that. Certain engineering programs at Tech are as academically demanding as any in the country. Others not so difficult. You just can’t compare a P.E. major at Georgia with an electrical engineering major at Tech; likewise you can’t compare a chemistry major at Georgia with an industrial management major at Tech. Just doesn’t work.

Anyway, just wanted to play the role of wise old sage for moment. Now let’s get back to the mudslinging and attacks on each other’s manhood.

But none of this is as much as it was before Jan Kemp exposed the UGA Athletic Department for what it was. Is it George?

Yes the Bulldogs, they soar high above And Duke will likely beat us too And we will probably rot in hell But that is our great reward For being the P i s s Colored Yellow Jackets of Tech!

    Refrain

Yellow! Yellow! Yellow is the color of p i s s!

Pulpwood — Easily the most well-reasoned argument made by a Tech fan I’ve seen on here.

I don’t think there’s any inferiority complex about the academic rigors of Georgia Tech, but we do get tired of hearing this used as an excuse year after year. And as demonstrated by Reggie’s 840, the requirements aren’t nearly as stringent as some will have you think. To hear some Tech fans talk, they require the same SAT scores from football students as regular students.

The biggest difference to me is that UGA will take Hargrave kids and Tech will not. However, that’s usually only 1 or 2 players from every recruiting class. How many Hargrave guys have made a huge impact on the playing field for UGA over the last 5 years? Not many.

Ugalaw – I guess you guys do get tired of hearing it. I get tired of the way some Tech fans misrepresent the academic requirements as a way of trying to prove their superiority. (We are superior, though) I also get really sick of hearing about Reggie Ball. Don’t you Georgia folks understand how sad and disgusted Tech fans are about that. We had the best receiver we may ever have for the past three years, but Chan Gailey – who is not universally loved by Tech fans by the way – chose to start Reggie for four years. For the benefit of Auburn and Clemson fans, that’s 1-2-3-4. The pain is too bitter to contemplate. But I guess both schools have athletes and coaches that let them down. Can you say Jim Harrick and Tony Cole?

Vince Miami’s run is done. F$U’s run is done. UF is now king of the state. Bank it. Even though we pound the pups every fall and hear them whine in J-Ville, how do you get that times have changed downward to the puppies? They have won two SEC titles recently in the toughest conference in the land. I know conference championships seem like candy in the Always Comical Conference but they are hard won in the best conference in the land. F$Uers call our ‘96 title a mulligan, but it’s the SEVEN CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIPS IN THE BEST CONFERENCE IN THE LAND SINCE 1991 that makes the Gators the best.

Bees, please exit the blog and leave the trash talking to a team that actually beats the pups and the football talk to people who are fans of a real conference, not the comical one.

Can’t take that away from you. But just for the record its only your second football title. Maybe its ancient history but Tech has three (1917, 1928 and 1990 – and should have won it in 1952).

IMO, and I was there, when we beat you all those years it didn’t make sense. I was happy of course just as you are now. And you beating us so many times doesn’t make sense either. I think that things will balance out and two great schools will be back to fighting it out on the field. Yes, I think we’re in the position to win in ‘07 because of several factors but talk is cheap and I’m willing to make my prediction and then let the coaches and players have at it. I hope Caleb never dresses out for the dawgs, cause he is special! AJ Green, from what I hear, is really special too. He sounds like a strong commitment to you guys. I graduated from GT and have had season tix for GT games for a long time now. I hate the dawgs, believe me. I just get a kick out of how animated UGA faithful get when Tech people slam your academics and talk about your “troubled” athletes. I won’t be very popular after making this comment, but here goes:

We all recruit great athletes, some are thugs, some are great role models. It’s a roll of the dice. You guys are no worse than anyone else in the country, including us. That was evidenced a couple years ago when we had our little issue, right?

Every team has minimum GPA/Testing requirements for players. If you qualify, the coach can pursue you and offer a scholarship. All coaches recruit like this. How many successful coaches have turned down a kid because he had a 2.25 GPA and a 840? Not GT or UGA, I’ll promise you.

GT Sports are my life passion, but trying to spin Mark Richt as anything other than a class act is absurd. Georgia will continue to prosper with him at the helm. We will have “Donnan-like” success at GT with Gailey. It’s all about your HC and the level of talent you can attract. GT doesn’t recruit with the dawgs.

That being said, I hope we find a way to start beating you guys again. I don’t care if we have to resort to poorly called fumbles, 5th downs, or bogus penalties. It’s been way too long!

The entire atmosphere in Athens has changed and for good reason.Msrk RICHT made the changes required for the Dawgs to take it to the next level.I’ve never sensed such a feeling of true confidence on Ag Hill since he’s been there. The ‘07 team is beginning to show a sense of “expecting to win” not can we. RAMBLE ON, your small time screeching is the same as some Dawgs about the Reptiles. Nothing is going to change for the Dawgs until we beat the Reptiles MANO VS. MANO ON THE FIELD IN J’VILLE AND THE SAME GOES FOR YOU AND THE DAWGS. I TRULY BELIEVE THIS IS OUR SEASON FOR GOOD REASON. CAN YOU REALLY SAY THE SAME ABOUT YOU TEAM?

Buck of course I can! Same Defense coming back, but better. Awesome Offense Cord (John Bond), with a three year offense line blowing holes for #22 Thashard Choice (who you couldn’t stop at all last year, only Patrick Nix could…good riddance). Excellent special teams except for Kick coverage, but that should be better with all the incoming Studs from the best recruiting class in the state and better yet, the most powerful conference in the land, ACC!

Last and most importantly, UGA’s MVP -Reggie Ball, is gone.

Also, Uga’s has no, and i mean NO Offensive Line, poor Matt is going to need all his fat to make it through the second half of the season, since you play no one before then. He’s going to be a dead man walking.

Buck, could you also tell *ugalaw how much you figure those 4 year degreed CS majors are making in Kirkland, Bellevue, and Redmon at that small little company, Microsoft? I mean relative to those 8 year degreed law students down here. Hmmm

You got to watch them lawyers, they’ve been known to be intellectually dishonest, I mean forgetful, sometimes.

Yes, lots of players returning from the GT team that lost 3 in a row to end the season. Why else do you think Uga is so eager to retire?

Georgia/GT is in Atlanta this year. Which means that the other GT home games bundled in with the UGA ticket package will be sold out too. A little charity from the Bulldog Nation. We wouldn’t want you to retract your stadium again.

Ramble ON, are you talking about that vaunted D of yours that couldn’t stop two freshman QBs from driving the field on them at crunch time in two of the most important games of the year? Are you talking about that vaunted D that got 38 points hung on it in the Gator Bowl? Are you talking about that vaunted D that Clemson is still running up and down the field on? LMAO!!! ROFL!!!

I just thought I was obnoxious until I read the blog from Gatorbait. Geez, a coupled national football titles in the past 12 years and back to back basketball titles, and now all of a sudden Gainesville and the SEC are God, think not.

If you really want to know who has dominated in all sports just check the following link:

    http://www.ncaa.org/champadmin/champs_listing1.html

As you can see only 1 SEC school made the top ten in the Men’s sports, which is the recently added Arkanasa, and quite frankly I still consider them more SWC, but I will give you that one. The top 3 are all Pac-10 schools.

Oh sorry, I see that LSU, and UGA break the top-ten in Women’s sports..and that is something to brag about. So, just because you won back to back national basketball titles gives you no room to brag. Try to win 7 in a row as UCLA did in the 70’s then you can talk smack.

Matter of fact, SI wrote an article several years ago how UCLA was the most sought after school in terms of overall athletics with USC and Stanford running a close second and third.

So basically, there is an overall lack of respect from any conference other than the SEC, because most of these bloggers reside in Between GA, or Pittsview Al and just never leave the state.

I will take CA talent over any other recruiting talent in the nation and wax you up and down the field all day long. If you don’t believe it, ask Aubbie about Southern Cal, and ask those Roll Tide fans about UCLA.

The best comment on this thing thus far is the one about UGA and Flordia and UGA and Tech. As a UGA grad, I say every year, including this one, about how we’re going to beat the jean shorts from Gainsville, but we don’t…ever it seems.

It’s the same thing for Tech and UGA. The 90’s, or the last time Tech beat UGA, is getting farther and farther away. But each year it’s the same thing from the Tech fans that we say about Fla, this is our year. But seriuosly though for a second, you didn’t beat us with a Fresh. QB and the worst team we’ve had since the 90’s, why do you think you nerds are going to beat us this year with the only truly great player you’ve had in a decade gone.

Oh and to Vince Dooley’s comment about no other conference getting respect other than the SEC because everyone lives between GA and Pittsview AL, thats because its what we know. We know about football. Since the majority of your fans live between Japan and Western China, you know about mathmatics, dry cleaning, and driving 20 under in the left lane with your blinkers on the entire time.

Or, for the pimply nerd Americans, what internet sites are the best to pleasure yourselves at since most of you haven’t seen or been with a real woman in years. That is because we are dating them all. By the way, I do need a new dry cleaner, any suggestions?

Dry cleaner? Is your own tongue not working for you anymore, leg humper? You DO know about football…as well as when it is sufficiently hog-killin’ cold and how many degrees of family separation are necessary for a legal hitchin’.

Ugadawg1you mention you we’re a graduated, obviously not from your school of journalism. Please share with us you degree and we’ll decide whether or not you even need a dry cleaner.

For now, all you have to do is throw you overalls in the cold wash cycle. The weather is warm enough for you to dry them on your clothes line.

I’m not the only one who pays attention to changes in a FB program. I’ve noticed that a few people live on the Vandy & Ky. losses from last year and ignore the way the Dawgs finished the ‘06 season. That’s OK with me because it shows that they don’t have much else to say. Like, we have no “OL” for ‘07 has to be one of the dumbest statements posted to day. Not only did the Dawgs pick up a bunch (8?) line men but we also are very happy that Callaway got his HC job because we have a new “OL” coach with a track record of producing top flight lines. Our new “OC” and he have changed blocking assignments so the line is already coming together. Knowledgeable FB people notice these things. Ga. has a QB that made his mistakes but grew through them and is now set to continue and improve on his play from those last 3 games. A new “O” designed by Bobo that if anyone saw the last half of the “CFB” saw things they hadn’t seen on Ag Hill. Some of the smartest play calling I’ve seen in the “Red Zone” in a long time on ANY team and I’ve just begun to point out the positive changes. I’ve taken up enough space for now but when bloggers like Gatorbait post I read because he does the same thing with his team and makes good FB sense. Last point, living out here on the “Left coast”, I have a pretty good handle on PAC-10 FB. So for those of you who have nothing to say but Vandy & Ky. that’s great because it shows that you really don’t have your eye on the ball. BTW, look out for 4 & 5 receiver sets andplays from those formations in ‘07. I’ll give you more later.

no dawgbite we got beat by Reggie Ball and Patrick Nix.

Buck that OL is thin, very thin. Haven’t a few already been arrested and on their first of many 3 game suspensions? Do your self a favor and move back to the “right coast”. Trying to get your game face on at 9:00am just isn’t ment to be.

Ramble On, we’ve had one guy suspended for getting drunk and sitting down beside a telephone pole. 2nd offense so he’s out for 5 games. one other one for posse ion of booze and out for two games. 3 rd player for I.D> but his punishment is in house so he’ll play. So out of the entire team we have two that are out for committing a no no. I don’t see how you can say “OL” is thin when we have so many players with a mix of every class. We’re going to be two deep at every position not like last few seasons where WE WERE THIN. Speaking of time, it really make for a nice day to start off Sat. morning with breakfast at Jilians watching the Dawgs. The night games are even better because there’s plenty of time to do things after the game is over. It was hard to get that game face on at 1st but I found out that it really is fun. Just had to adjust. BTW, we’ll have more depth on the “OL” than we’ve had since CMR’s 1st two years.

This entire blog does nothing more than set in concrete the fact that UGA fans love to rant and rave about their team, when their football program has done nothing more than produce a few SEC titles, 1 national title and a few NFL accolades.

When looking at the overall scheme of things in terms of football, there are some many programs and conferences superior to the UGA program and SEC conference, including schools such as OU, Texas, Southern Cal, Notre Dame, Alabama, Miami and FSU just to name a few.

I hear how powerful the SEC football conference is, but when you break it down in terms of strength and overall national titles, it is not that strong. The strongest contenders in the SEC are UF, UT, AU, UA, and LSU. UGA is somewhere in the mix, but with only has 12 SEC titles to their name since the SEC has been in existence since 1932, which is 75 years to those UGA fans, who can’t do the math.

The only team in the SEC with good size of national titles is Alabama at 12, which was the most dominating programs under Wallace Wade and Bear Bryant. However, once you leave Tuscaloosa in terms of national titles, the curve moves down sharply with overall titles.

Basically, UGA will never gain respect until they show some respect for other schools, competing programs and conferences, but that’s ok, we can the “pain train” is coming starting in the fall and UGA will learn to respect other teams and programs.
