BOYS GAMES: Centennial beats Lassiter on road

From staff reports

Wednesday, February 11, 2009

Composure is needed on the road, and Centennial coach Allen Whitehart got that from his troops Tuesday night in a 63-54 win over host Lassiter.

“They’re a very hard-nosed, veteran team that’s well-coached,” said Whitehart, whose 21-2 squad is ranked No. 3 in Class AAAAA by the Georgia Sports Writers Association. Sixth-ranked Lassiter fell to 18-6.

“It wasn’t our best night of the year, but it was a good one,” Whitehart said. “Our kids stayed controlled and showed composure. Lassiter is very hard to beat at home, so it was a big road win for us.”

Adrian Rogers led Centennial with 18 points, followed by Lorenzo Brown with 16. A four-year starter, Brown is now six shy of 2,000 career points.

Lassiter was led by Blaise White with 17 points.
