> Sanchez update: He has made five starts since returning from shoulder surgery and posted a .250 opponents’ average with 27 strikeouts and 13 walks in 29 1/3 innings. He lasted more than six innings in two of his past three starts. Sanchez held the Cubs to one run in 5 1/3 innings of an Aug. 16 win, and gave up eight hits and four runs in 6 1/3 innings for no decision Friday against Arizona. He’s 1-1 with a 1.80 ERA in two starts against the Braves, both in 2006. Brian McCann is 1-for-7 against him, and Jeff Francoeur is 0-for-6.
> Morton update: The rookie is 1-6 with a 6.82 ERA in his past seven starts, including 0-3 with a 10.24 ERA and .390 opponents’ average in his past three. Morton gave up five hits, four runs and five walks in 1 1/3 innings of an 18-3 loss Friday at St. Louis, his briefest start. It was the third time in six games that he pitched fewer than four innings while allowing at least four hits, four runs and four walks. He’s 0-6 with an 8.18 ERA in seven home starts, including a July 22 loss in his only game against Florida (5 2/3 innings, two hits, four runs, four walks). Mike Jacobs is 1-for-2 with a three-run homer against him.
