Duval's happy despite 83

David Duval put together two good rounds to get into contention, and the former Georgia Tech golfer seemed close to breaking out of a mystifying slump. Then came a triple bogey on the first hole of his third round at Royal Birkdale, and an 83 to match his highest score in this major. "I'm extremely disappointed in the score," Duval said. "But I assure you, few hit the ball better or more solid."

Love moves up 54 places

Davis Love III made the cut on the number at 9 over par, then made 16 pars, one birdie and one bogey in his round of 70 and moved up 54 spots into a tie for 15th. That's seven shots behind Norman.
