> ROLLING: The Hawks got going early offensively and didn't slow down until the halftime buzzer Monday night at FedEx Forum. They piled up a season-high 73 points en route to a 27-point halftime lead. They led by as many as 29 points against a Memphis team that had won three of its past six games before Monday, including a win over the Lakers in Los Angeles. The Hawks shot a wicked 25-for-36 (.694) from the floor before halftime, their best shooting performance of the first half this season. All five Hawks starters were in double figures by halftime, led by Mike Bibby's 15 points. Josh Smith had 14, Al Horford 11, and Joe Johnson and Marvin Williams 10 each.

> SCORING MACHINE: The Hawks unleashed a scoring fury in the first quarter, coming up one point shy of the Grizzlies' opponent season high for points in the first quarter with a 40-19 edge. Rookie point guard Acie Law IV punctuated the quarter with a 3-pointer at the buzzer, the Hawks' fourth from that distance in the quarter. Bibby made 2-of-4 from that range, finishing the opening quarter with 12 points, and Josh Childress sank his only attempt.

> BUSY SUNDAY: When the Hawks arrived in Memphis after a win over New York, Smith hopped in a car and headed for St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital to visit with officials and patients. Smith made a $10,000 donation the hospital, and this was his only opportunity to visit during the season. He stayed for a little over an hour, getting a tour of the facility from the hospital's director, Dr. Williams Evans. "I knew there would only be a small window of time to get over there and see the place and see the people," Smith said. Smith held a fund-raiser, in conjunction with the Stanford Financial Group, Nov. 13 at the Louis Vuitton store in Atlanta. He donated $10,000, and the store donated a percentage of its daily sales.
