Redan High School’s boys basketball coach Dalton Greene, on the cusp of leading his team into a regional tournament, resigned from the Stone Mountain school earlier this week under unclear circumstances.
Greene has headed Redan’s hoops program since 2000 and was about to lead his Georgia Top-10 squad to the boys’ 2 AAAAA Region Tournament next week.
DeKalb County schools spokesman Dale Davis would not give Dalton’s reason for resigning, but said there was a DeKalb Schools police report regarding Greene. Davis would not say what was in the police report.
Calls to Greene’s home Friday night were not answered.
Greene’s brother, former Falcons and Miami Dolphin running back and Washington High School football coach Stanley Pritchett Jr., said he didn’t know why his brother stepped down.
“I’m kind of stunned,” Pritchett said Friday night. “I haven’t really been able to talk to him.”
