Loyola vs. Kansas State: 5 things to know about Atlanta’s Elite Eight matchup

Kansas State and Loyola (Chicago) will meet Saturday in the Elite Eight in Atlanta. It is the first matchup between an 11th seed (Loyola) and a No. 9 seed (Kansas State). The Ramblers are the eighth 11th seed to make it this far since the tournament. The Wildcats haven’t been to a Final Four since 1964. The Ramblers' first and only Final Four appearance was in 1963 when they won the national title.  Saturday's Elight Eight game will be a first at Philips Arena. Tipoff is at 6:09 p.m. on TBS.

Saturday’s Elite Eight NCAA Tournament matchup in Atlanta between Kansas State and Loyola (Chicago) is a Cinderella dream.

• It is the first matchup between an 11th seed (Loyola) and a No. 9 seed (Kansas State) in the Elite Eight.

• The Ramblers are the eighth 11th seed to make it this far since the tournament since it was expanded to 64 teams in 1985. Only four of the eight advanced to the Final Four.

• The Wildcats haven't been to a Final Four since 1964. The Ramblers' first and only Final Four appearance was in 1963 when they won the national title.

• Before Thursday, Atlanta had hosted a total of 85 NCAA Division I men's tournament games -- at the Omni and Georgia Dome. Saturday's Elight Eight game will be a first at Philips Arena.

• Saturday’s game will tip off at 6:09 p.m. at Philips Arena. It will air on TBS with Brian Anderson, Chris Webber and sideline reporter Lisa Byington on the call.
