Georgia State football players run onto the field before their game against Tennessee State at Georgia State Stadium Thursday, Aug. 31, 2017, in Atlanta.

It's been a successful week for Georgia State: On Saturday, the team grabbed its first bowl win by defeating Western Kentucky 27-17 in Orlando's Cure Bowl. On Wednesday, it added 16 recruits during the inaugural early signing period.

Of the 16 players, four come from Georgia. Elliott, a native of South Carolina and former Gamecocks interim coach, put his ties to good use: The Panthers nabbed four South Carolina athletes.

Coming off the most successful season in school history, Kennesaw State landed six recruits, coach Brian Bohannon announced Wednesday. The collection includes two offensive linemen, a receiver, a defensive end, a defensive back and a linebacker. Five of the players are out-of-state signees, with three of them from Alabama.

The two squads will face off in the 2018 season opener.
