Clark Atlanta University on Tuesday fired head football coach Ted Bahhur.

Assistant Coach Keith Higdon was named interim head coach, according to a statement released Tuesday evening by sports information director Danielle Wright.

“We want to thank Interim Head Coach Keith Higdon for taking the helm of our football program during this challenging time," university president Carlton E. Brown said in a statement. "We have met with our athletes and have assured them that we support their efforts on the field and in the classroom."

It is unclear why Bahhur was termintated, but he presided over a 20-29 record during his more than four years of his tenure.

That record includes a 6-5 record in the 2008 season, and a 3-7 record for 2007.

He coached the team this season to a 3-3 record, ending with a 31-12 homecoming loss on Saturday to Kentucky State University

There are four more games left in the season.
