Howard named Hawks’ Best Teammate in Players Voice Awards

Dwight Howard was the Hawks representative as Best Teammate in the Players Voice Awards announced by the National Basketball Players Association on Friday.

The NBPA Players Voice Awards are voted on solely by NBA players with unique categories – Best Dressed, Player You Secretly Wish Was On Your Team, Clutch Performer, Best Social Media Follow, Global Impact and Most Influential Veteran in addition to others such as MVP, Best Rookie and Best Defender. The union also named a Best Teammate for all 30 NBA teams.

Howard was traded to the Hornets this summer have signing a three-year contract with his hometown Hawks as a free agent in 2016. Howard appeared in 74 games for the Hawks last season and averaged 13.5 points and 12.7 rebounds a game.

Several players with local ties were honored by the NBPA in the awards.

South Gwinnett’s Lou Williams (Lakers, Rockets) was named Best off Bench and Greater Atlanta Christian’s Malcolm Brogdon (Bucks) was named Best Rookie.
