If playoffs started today, Braves would not have home-field advantage

The Braves have clinched a spot in the National League playoffs and will make their first playoff appearance since 2013. How have times changed on the local sports landscape since that postseason appearance five years ago? Let’s take a look. (Video by Leo Willingham)

If the National League playoffs started today, the Braves would face the Rockies in the best-of-five National League Division Series (NLDS) against the Rockies.

And the Rockies - not the Braves - would have home-field advantage.

Here’s a quick playoff breakdown heading into the weekend:

- The Braves (89-70) and Rockies (89-70) are currently tied for the No. 2 seed in the National League. The Rockies would have home-field advantage after winning the season series against the Braves.

Rockies win four straight vs. Braves in Atlanta in August

- The Cubs (92-66) currently own the National League’s best record, but are still battling the Brewers (92-67) for the NL Central title.

- The Dodgers (88-71) could still overtake the Rockies and win the NL West, or could fall out of the playoffs altogether as they battle the Cardinals (87-72) for the final wild-card spot.

This weekend's National League schedule

Confused? Here are two quick things to remember if you are a Braves fan:

- If the Braves have home-field advantage in the division series, they will play Thursday, Oct. 4 and Friday, Oct. 5 at SunTrust Park.

- If the Braves don’t have home-field advantage, they will play Sunday, Oct. 7 and possibly Monday, Oct. 8 at SunTrust Park.
