Reports out of Winnipeg that the Thrashers have been sold and will relocate to the city next season are false, according to team officials.

Thrashers general manager Don Waddell told the team’s Web site that “there is absolutely nothing to it, and there is no forthcoming announcement or plans for relocation.”

NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman told the Journal-Constitution last week that the league is committed to keeping a franchise in Atlanta.
