Morin has 44 points (21 goals, 23 assists) playing for Kitchener of the Ontario Hockey League. He was a member of the U.S. gold medal winning team at the 2009 Under-18 World Championships.
“Jeremy is very deserving,” Thrashers general manager Don Waddell said. “He is having a strong season at Kitchener.”
The World Championships open Saturday and run through Jan.5 in Saskatchewan. The U.S. opens play Saturday against Slovakia.
