The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

The Thrashers claimed defenseman Christoph Schubert off re-entry waivers from Ottawa Friday. To make room for Schubert, the Thrashers placed forward Colby Armstrong on injured reserve. Armstrong injured his groin in a exhibition game last month.

Schubert, 27, played in 50 games for the Senators last season with six points (three goals, three assists). During the 2006-07 season, when Ottawa advanced to the Stanley Cup Finals, the 6-foot-3, 230-pounder had career highs of eight goals, 17 assists and 25 points.

Schubert, a fourth-round draft pick in 2001, played for Germany in the Winter Olympic Games (2006 and 2002), the World Cup of Hockey (2004) and  the World Championships (2009, 2008, 2005, 2002 and 2001).
