Hawks owners want to know what you think of them (sort of)
Q. What’s the best thing about the city of Atlanta?
A. Restaurants, sick restaurants. I like MF Sushi. They have this yellow-tail appetizer that’s very tasty with a little jalapeno on there.
Q. What’s the worst thing about the city of Atlanta?
A. Right now the rain. It’s miserable.
Q. If you weren’t a professional hockey player, what would you be?
A. Honestly, I don’t know. When I was a kid I wanted to be a fireman. Odds are, I’d probably just end up working at a gas station.
Q. What’s your favorite off-season activity?
A. Lying on a couch. I was this close to signing a professional deal this summer. I almost went pro, but I decided to give hockey one more chance.
Q. Where did you get your outgoing personality?
A. I don’t know. I just like having fun with the guys and hanging out at the rink. Maybe it’s from my grandmother. She’s an easy-come, easy-go type of person. She’s always got a smile on her face. She’s a fun person to be around. I kind of get it from her. I don’t know how fun I am to be around, but for the most part I think I get it from her.
Remembering Snyder
Following the Thrashers’ game Oct. 17 in Buffalo, the team will travel to Elmira, Ontario, to spend the day at the Dan Snyder Memorial Arena. The rink was built in memory of the Thrashers forward, who died Oct. 5, 2003, following an auto accident. The arena, in Snyder’s hometown, opened in September and was built with proceeds from the Dan Snyder Memorial Foundation.
Thrashers players will put on a youth hockey clinic and sign autographs.
Catching up
Former Thrashers defenseman Garnet Exelby is a minus-1 through three games with Toronto. Exelby was traded, along with forward Colin Stuart, to the Maple Leafs for defenseman Pavel Kubina. Stuart was assigned to the team’s AHL franchise in Abbotsford.
