Falcons’ fixes (part 3): Sign Grimes, Lofton; balk on Abe
Fullback Ovie Mughelli has not practiced all week because of a calf injury he suffered against San Francisco.
Jason Snelling and Haynes, a former University of Georgia standout, will be available for fullback duties and will likely split Mughelli's special teams duties.
"He's prepared," Falcons coach Mike Smith said. "He's gotten the majority of the snaps this week. If Ovie is not able to go, he'll be the guy that will have to come in."
Haynes was not on the roster for the opening game. He was inactive for the Carolina and San Francisco games. He was active against New England, but did not play.
Haynes, who played at North Springs High, made the team after being out of football last season. He played in 62 regular season games with Pittsburgh from 2002 to 2007.
