Flowery Branch - The Falcons’ season opener against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday has been sold out and there will be no local television blackout, the team announced Thursday.

After going 11-5 and reaching the playoffs last season, Falcons president Rich McKay recently said there was little threat of blackouts this season.
Under NFL rules, games are blacked out in the home team’s TV market if not sold out 72 hours before kickoff.
Last year, coming off a 4-12 season in 2007, the Falcons needed some local sponsors to step forward and purchase tickets to ensure a sellout of the season opener against Detroit.
