Kelly Johnson fuels G-Braves' win

Second baseman Kelly Johnson was 2-for-4 and drove in a run in a three-run fourth inning as the Gwinnett Braves defeated Norfolk 4-1 at home Tuesday night.

Johnson also singled in the third and scored the G-Braves’ first run. Chris Burke also drove in a run in the fourth.
The G-Braves got 11 hits, all singles, off Norfolk starter David Pauley in six innings. Over the final three innings, Gwinnett had no base-runners.
Norfolk committed four errors in the fourth, three of them by Pauley, who had a throwing error, a fielding error and an error on a pickoff attempt. One of Gwinnett’s runs was earned.
Brian Barton, J.C. Holt and Clint Sammons also each had two hits for the G-Braves.
Norfolk left two runners on base in the ninth inning. Brandon Snyder, representing the tying run, struck out to end the game.
G-Braves starter Jonny Venters allowed five hits and a run in seven innings.
