Braves suddenly lack pitching, defense and a clue
The G-Braves allowed a run in the first inning, but came back with two in the second on back-to-back two-out doubles by Reid Gorecki and Chris Burke. Kelly Johnson, who was 0-for-5 and made an error, ended the threat with a strikeout.
Burke also doubled home a run in the eighth.
The G-Braves added a run in the third on a home run by Clint Sammons, who was 3-for-3 with two walks and three runs scored.
Jo-Jo Reyes started for Gwinnett, continuing his rehab stint. He pitched four innings, allowing two earned runs on five hits. He walked one and struck out one.
Buddy Carlyle, also making a rehab appearance, relieved Reyes in the fifth after the first two batters reached on singles.
Carlyle retired the next three batters, the only batters he faced as the Braves organization is easing him back into shape. He was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in early June and had struggled with fatigue.
