Atlanta Braves donating $25,000 for Hurricane Harvey relief efforts

The Atlanta Braves announced Wednesday that the team is donating $25,000 to the American Red Cross’ Hurricane Harvey relief efforts.

Along with the monetary donation, the team will also collect item donations at the entrance gates (game against Rangers on Sept. 4) and work with the United Way of Greater Atlanta and Atlanta Peach Movers to collect items to send to Texas United Way. Items needed include diapers, baby wipes, lip balm, comb/brush, shampoo/conditioner, deodorant, feminine hygiene products, first aid items, lotion, razors, sanitizer, reusable water bottle, soap, socks, sunscreen, toothbrush/toothpaste, underwear and wash cloths.

The Braves also have a website, www.braves.com/harveyrelief, where fans can find where to donate to the Hurricane Harvey relief efforts and items that are in need.

“Those who have been affected by Hurricane Harvey are in our thoughts and prayers,” Braves Chairman and CEO Terry McGuirk said in a statement. “In particular, we are thinking of our friends at the Houston Astros and their families.”
