The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Georgia’s football team has a safety who’s majoring in art. “Picasso,” Quintin Banks’ teammates sometimes call him.

Georgia Tech has an offensive lineman who grew from a self-described “nerdy little kid” with model rockets into an aerospace engineering major, although Sean Bedford now thinks he’ll become a patent lawyer.

Both Georgia and Georgia Tech open their football seasons Saturday, and in the long buildup to kickoff, you’ve probably become well-versed on the players as, well, players.

But did you know that Georgia’s starting quarterback, Joe Cox, is a psychology major who hopes the study of human behavior will help him in a coaching career?

Or that Tech wide receiver Kevin Cone is a mechanical-engineering major who wants to design and build sports equipment?

Or that Georgia’s starting tight end, Aron White, is a management major with aspirations of perhaps following in the sports-administration footsteps of UGA athletics director Damon Evans?
