STATE: AAAA power Westside of Macon rolls

From staff reports

Saturday, November 01, 2008

Thomas County Central was expected to give top-ranked Westside-Macon its first test of the season Friday night.

Rather than take a test, the host Seminoles (9-0, 7-0) gave a clinic, one that sent a strong message through Class AAAA. Westside dominated the No. 6 Yellow Jackets (7-2, 6-1), built a 31-0 halftime lead and coasted to a 51-0 victory.

Entering the game, the Seminoles had outscored opponents 350 to 30, and error-plagued Thomas County Central —- a team rarely manhandled through the years —- suffered a similar fate. Not since 1994 had the Yellow Jackets been shut out.

Westside’s Orrin McFadden completed 10 of 14 passes for 177 yards in the first half, including 36-yard and 15-yard touchdown passes to Danny Madison. Marcus Wilson and Julian Burnett added short scoring runs.

The fast and physical Seminoles defense held Thomas County Central to 53 yards of total offense in the first half while forcing four turnovers.

Westside padded its margin in the second half on a 13-yard touchdown run by Robert Brown and a 5-yard score by Adrian Bentley.
