African-American ballots down in early voting for Senate runoff

After two days of early voting for the Dec. 2 runoffs in Georgia, African-American turnout is down significantly from the heady days leading up to the election of Barack Obama as president.

According to Secretary of State Karen Handel, black voters have cast 8,113 of 33,555 ballots, or 24 percent.

In the 45-day period of early voting prior to the general election, African-Americans cast 34.5 percent of advanced ballots. Maintaining enthusiasm in the U.S. Senate runoff has been viewed as the chief hurdle for Democrat Jim Martin, who faces Republican incumbent Saxby Chambliss.

Hence today’s rally headlining former President Bill Clinton, on the campus of Clark Atlanta University.

Rasmussen Reports, in a poll published today, shows Chambliss in the lead with 50 percent to Martin’s 46 percent.

But the polling firm notes: “Runoff elections typically have lower voter turnout than general elections and can be impacted in either direction by organized get-out-the-vote efforts.”

I’m not going to vote until Dec. 2nd. My vote was not counted for President until AFTER it was all over with. Eventhough I did vote for Obama, I wanted my vote to count.

WE HAVE MORE TO DO:

Democrat Jim Martin is in a runoff against Bush Republican Saxby Chambliss for the Senate seat from Georgia. Bush’s Saxby Chambliss voted against spending a few measly dollars to provide health care coverage for Georgia, and Americas needy children. But he supported wasting hundreds of billions of your dollars, and the life BLOOD of Americas finest on an unnecessary war in Iraq.

At a time when 47 million of you have no health insurance coverage, and over 100 million of you with insurance are just one major illness away from complete financial destruction. Bush and Saxby Chambliss voted to make the heart break of bankruptcy relief even harder for all of you to use.

You see, Bush and Saxby Chambliss, and his family don’t have to worry about their health care coverage. They have the finest health care coverage your tax money can buy for them. Courtesy of you. The American Tax payer. In fact, no one but the super rich can afford the health care coverage you the tax payer provide for Saxby Chambliss, and his family for FREE! with your tax dollars.

He supposedly works for you. But he doesn’t think you and your family should have access to the type of taxpayer supported FREE health care that you provide for him, and his loved ones for FREE!. Doesn’t that just make you BURRING MAD!

Vote for JIM MARTIN for US senator from Georgia. Vote for JIM Martin who will be on your side. Vote for JIM MARTIN who will work with President Obama and a majority congress for you. Vote for JIM MARTIN most of all for your-self, your family’s, friends, and loved ones. Vote for JIM MARTIN for a better America, and a better World.

Don’t let Saxby Chambliss make a chump out of you by tricking you into voting against your own best interest. Saxby chambliss is NOT! on your side. He’s not one of you. He is on George Bush’s side. And we all know what a catastrophe the Bush Chambliss administration has been the past 8 years.

Contact all your family and friends and do every thing you can to see to it that JIM MARTIN and GEORGIANS! take that senate seat back for Georgia, and America. No matter where you live in America. This is important to you. President Obama will need all the help, and power you can give him to try and fix this catastrophic mess that the Corrupt Bush Chambliss administration has created.

As I said before you will have to vote in overwhelming numbers to overcome the Bush Chambliss “Let Them Eat Cake” vote fraud machine. Vote early if you can. Then help everyone you can get to the polls and vote for JIM MARTIN. You and your loved ones don’t have to be Saxby Chambliss’s victims anymore.

I know you will get it done. Just like you did for President Obama.

God bless all of you

Texas grand jury indicts Cheney, Gonzales of crime Wed Nov 19, 2008 2:49am EST

HOUSTON (Reuters) - A grand jury in South Texas indicted U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney and former attorney General Alberto Gonzales on Tuesday for “organized criminal activity” related to alleged abuse of inmates in private prisons.

The indictment of Vice President Dick Cheney addresses any outstanding questions of Bush/Cheney believers—they are felons and the felony indictment of Dick Cheney confirms the entire administration was corrupt. Remember Saxby Chambliss is good friends with Bush/Cheney.

As far as the US Senate race between Chambliss/Martin goes-

VOTE MARTIN!! No more corruption.

He looks like a dork? At least he defended this country in Vietnam! I’ll take the dork over the guy with 6 deferments for a “football injury” any day!

I voted for Martin and Obama in the gen’l but I am not thrilled with some of Obama’s appointments or with the Big 3 bailout or universal health care. I want fiscal responsibility and I don’t see a sign of it so far.

At the end of the day I don’t trust either party so there should be some kind of effective opposition to prevent one party having free reign. All Martin can do now is give one party free reign. So I am voting Chambliss this time.

Vote for Saxby Chambliss in the Senate run off!!

If Martin wins, there is good chance the Democratic liberals will get 60 seats in the Senate and will able to cram liberal legislation down our throats (including tax increases and amnesty for illegal aliens which Martin supports).

Vote for Saxby and help stop the liberals like Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi!!

I’m voting for Martin, but Obama really needs to make at least one visit to Georgia for Martin to win. It’s pretty clear that Martin has no chance without another strong African-American turn-out, so a visit to Atlanta (and a day-trip / “pilgrimage” to the King Center) would really energize black voters. Also, a visit to Ft. Stewart or Ft. Benning (note: both areas voted heavily for Obama) could really highlight Martin’s military credentials, which also brings into play Saxby’s six deferments and treatment of Max Cleland in ‘02. There are so many outstanding opportunities for Martin to win this election with a little personal help from Obama.

Look. How many dimwitted folks are going to be cowed by the numbnuts references to Pelosi and Reid? And how many are going to be swayed by Chambliss’s monotone of “he’s (Martin) going to raise our taxes”? Get with the program folks.

OK Democrats!

As Bill Clinton said,

GET OUT AND VOTE! THIS SENATE SEAT MAKES THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE BRIDGE TO THE FUTURE AND A HUGE ROADBLOCK…

DON’T LET THE REPUBLICANS STOP US FROM PROGRESSING TO THE FUTURE!

Spend all your time making phone calls to get people to vote! This one will change our lives!

Isn’t it odd that even Saxby’s most fervent supporters don’t actually offer a reason to support Saxby himself?

They’re just begging everyone to vote “against the Democrats.” Interesting.

Republicans - it’s time to make some hard choices about our party. Some politicians have to go - consider many of the Republican politicians exit as needed surgery to remove problem areas. I invite you to look at the Senator Chambliss record in the Senate and as a Congressman (including below the surface) and draw your own conclusions as I and many other Republicans have.

Many of our party talks about change or refocusing, but when the rubber hits the road many Republicans (and Democrats, also) approach elections as “us against them” in a very football fan way (GA vs GT, Auburn vs Alabama, etc). Jim Martin would not be my first choice as a Senate candidate, but most of the points and charges leveled against him in this campaign are baseless when researched - that in itself should be some insight.

In this runoff let’s get past the Republican vs Democrat political football game and do what’s in the best for the State of Georgia.

I can never forgive Saxbe Chambliss for what he did to our former Senator Max Cleland in 2002. Sen. Cleland - a triple amputee highly-decorated veteran - was the victim of a smear campaign by Chambliss (who himself never served in the military) which, of all things, branded Cleland as “unpatriotic” and pictured him next to Osama Bin Laden. Remember those vicious ads? This kind of vitriol embodies everything that is wrong with our politics. So, I plan to vote for Jim Martin — and to think of Max Cleland when I pull the lever.

By the way, although he is now campaigning for him, in 2002 John McCain called Chambliss’ smear of Cleland “worse than disgraceful. Its reprehensible.”

Chambliss is another old bag like McCain. He’ll just stagnate another 6 yrs in the Senate and bring nothing back to GA. He’ll sit on his butt like he did the last 6 yrs. Wake up. What is his message anyway. Martin will work with the Democratic Majority and help GA and America, esp. after Bush rammed our faces into the dirt the last 8 years. Come out and vote for some Hope!

This is an important Senate runoff. Please vote early on Monday, Nov 14 thru Wednesday Nov 26 or on election day, Tuesday, December 2nd.

If you don’t show up and vote for Chambliss, the Democrats will gain full control of both houses of congress.
