A veritable river of spam runs dry
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
At roughly 4:30 p.m. Eastern time last Tuesday, the volume of junk e-mail arriving at inboxes around the world suddenly plummeted by at least 65 percent, an unprecedented drop caused by what is believed to be a single, simple act.
According to security experts, one Silicon Valley based computer firm was playing host to computers of various organizations that controlled the distribution of much of the world’s spam. Confronted with evidence tracing the spam activity back to the hosting firm, McColo Corp., Internet service providers pulled the plug, severing McColo’s online connections.
By nearly all accounts, spam volumes have remained at far diminished levels, though experts interviewed for this story expect spam to soon bounce back or even exceed previous levels. But the question remains: How could such a massive concentration of spam activity be hosted for so long from the servers at a single U.S.-based facility, in the belly of the security and tech community in Silicon Valley?

I’ve noticed no difference for me personally.
Then again — I still frequently see messages with ‘AJC/DNC Management’ on them, so I guess we’ve still got a ways to go. :-)

What a disappointment. When I saw this headline I thought Obama had lost his email list.

Speaking of which, why does the AJC keep sending me spam, offering to make me an editorial page contributor for the princely sum of 25 dollars?
Is that the going rate at the Urinal?

A spokesperson for the US Mint tells me that gold coins in this country, for the past month, “are being allocated because of an increased demand.”
And the price that the government charges coin dealers has recently been increased by as much as 10 percent for a 10-ounce coin.
Robert Mish, a coin dealer in Menlo Park, Calif., says customers who want to purchase 200 gold coins often have to wait up to two weeks. Six months ago, he said, a purchase that size could have been filled immediately.
Gee, everyone is selling stocks and buying gold, almost as though in preparation of some catastrophic event.
I wonder what that could be, hmmmmm?

Great survey showing how ignorant Obama voters were of their own candidate and how all they really seem to know are bad things about Palin and McCain:
*”Ninety-four percent of Obama voters correctly identified Palin as the candidate with a pregnant teenage daughter, 86% correctly identified Palin as the candidate associated with a $150,000 wardrobe purchased by her political party, and 81% chose McCain as the candidate who was unable to identify the number of houses he owned. When asked which candidate said they could “see Russia from their house,” 87% chose Palin, although the quote actually is attributed to Saturday Night Live’s Tina Fey during her portrayal of Palin during the campaign. An answer of “none” or “Palin” was counted as a correct answer on the test, given that the statement was associated with a characterization of Palin. Obama voters did not fare nearly as well overall when asked to answer questions about statements or stories associated with Obama or Biden — 83% failed to correctly answer that Obama had won his first election by getting all of his opponents removed from the ballot, and 88% did not correctly associate Obama with his statement that his energy policies would likely bankrupt the coal industry. Most (56%) were also not able to correctly answer that Obama started his political career at the home of two former members of the Weather Underground.
Nearly three quarters (72%) of Obama voters did not correctly identify Biden as the candidate who had to quit a previous campaign for President because he was found to have plagiarized a speech, and nearly half (47%) did not know that Biden was the one who predicted Obama would be tested by a generated international crisis during his first six months as President.”*

Yep, it’s fun to watch the paranoid and stupid go through their antics while their betters look on with amusement.

Speaking of Spam, people are stockpiling the stuff (Hormel has three shifts going trying to meet demand). Gun dealers have sold out of some models. Some establishments that banned smoking have rescinded the ban. Are folks getting nervous out there?

Uh Oh! We’ll be needing that Spam when “the depression of Obama” hits.
With the emphasis on “canned” I will say that is the kind of meat Obama offered as solutions during his campaign.
It, “canned”, can also be used to describe the media’s bias for Obama. When a director finishes a film he wraps it up by saying “It’s in the can!”
When a conservative looks at the potential for destruction under an Obama presidency we can claim that “America has been tossed into the can.”
When an Obama supporter reads this post, they’re likely to say “Can it @@!” but I beat ‘em to it.

Yes, 68, think of the jazillions of electrons wasted in cyberspace by the repetitive nonsensical rightwingnut posters on this bog of a blog.
