SUNDAY COMICS
What’s changing: Beginning Sunday, March 15, the two Comics sections will be combined into one section, reducing the comics from eight pages to six full-color pages. This change will only cause three comics to be eliminated. Based on a recent reader survey on the comics, we will discontinue the lowest ranking comics and will no longer print Frazz, DeFlocked and Nights Lights and Fairy Flights.
Why the change: By combining the Comics sections, we’re able to simplify our press runs and produce the newspaper more efficiently.
TV WEEK
What’s changing: On Sunday, March 8, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution will distribute its last TV Week booklet and will launch the ajcTVweekly section on Sunday, March 15. This new full-color section will highlight TV watching for the week.
What’s not changing: The AJC will continue to feature a half-page TV grid in the Monday through Thursday and Saturday Living section and in Go Guide on Friday.
Another option: Also in your March 15 newspaper, you will find a one-time sample of a weekly TV listings magazine called “On,” which will be available by mail subscription.
NTVB Media, the company that manufactures the current TV Week, will produce “On.”
We are providing the sample as another option for readers who prefer that style of TV magazine.
Please note that NTVB Media is not affiliated in any way with the AJC or our parent company Cox Enterprises. The AJC has no role in the “On” magazine financially or logistically.
Why the change: As media habits have changed and more people are using on-screen TV listings, the readership of TV Week has dropped. It has become cost prohibitive to continue distributing an in-depth TV book supplement when the majority of readers, about 70 percent, do not use it regularly.
