Stars dance their way to Gwinnett

The audience at Gwinnett Arena Sunday will see stars. Twisting, twirling, dipping and dancing stars, that is.

The fourth Dancing With the Stars —- the Tour, based on the popular ABC reality competition show “Dancing With the Stars,” is swinging its way into town. And with it comes an all-star cast of contestants from the past two seasons. Pop stars Lance Bass and Toni Braxton, athlete Maurice Greene and 19-year-old thespian Cody Linley represent Season 7. Actress Marlee Matlin notched up Season 6 on her Capezios. A troupe of the show’s professional dancers, including Cheryl Burke, Mark Ballas, Lacey Schwimmer and Kym Johnson, will join the celebs onstage, as will dancer Derek Hough, who helped Season 7 champ Brooke Burke.

As a primer for the show, we’ve compiled some facts about each celebrity performer:

Lance Bass

Best known for: His former boy-band star status as a member of ’90s popster group ‘N Sync. The band sold more than 25 million albums worldwide and holds the record for most album sales in a single day —- more than 1 million —- with 2000’s “No Strings Attached.” That same album eventually received the rare Diamond status, with more than 10 million copies sold.

Fast facts: Bass has found a second career as a movie producer and actor. He was the executive producer and star of the film “On the Line” and was executive producer of the romantic comedy “Lovewrecked,” starring Amanda Bynes.

“Dancing With the Stars” cred: Placed third with partner Lacey Schwimmer in Season 7.

Toni Braxton

Best known for: Being an R&B singer and winner of six Grammys. Braxton has racked up worldwide record sales of more than 40 million. And her hit “Un-Break My Heart” is the all-time second biggest single by a female performer on the Billboard charts.

Fast facts: Braxton is no stranger to Broadway with roles in both “Beauty and the Beast” and “Aida.”

“Dancing With the Stars” cred: Placed eighth with partner Alec Mazo in Season 7.

Maurice Greene

Best known for: His success as a sprinter in track and field. Greene holds a gaggle of world records, and brought home Olympic medals, including the gold and the bronze for the 100 meters in 2000 and 2004, respectively.

Fast facts: He’s been a guest on the game show “Identity” and a contestant on the reality dating show “Blind Date.”

“Dancing With the Stars” cred: Placed fifth with partner Cheryl Burke in Season 7.

Cody Linley

Best known for: His role as Jake Ryan on the Disney Channel series “Hannah Montana,” a show that snagged an Emmy nomination for outstanding children’s programming. Linley is doing a limited run on the Dancing With the Stars tour, which includes the Atlanta stop.

Fast facts: Linley has appeared in several movies, including “Cheaper By the Dozen,” “Miss Congeniality,” “My Dog Skip” and “Hoot.” He also can be spotted in Zaxby’s commercials.

“Dancing With the Stars” cred: Placed fourth with partners Julianne Hough and Edyta Sliwinska in Season 7.

Marlee Matlin

Best known for: Winning an Academy Award for best actress in 1986 for her role in “Children of a Lesser God.” The film also garnered Matlin a Golden Globe for best actress in a drama.

Fast facts: Matlin, who is deaf, starred in the 2004 movie “What the Bleep Do We Know?” And she’s appeared on a variety of TV shows, including “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” “Desperate Housewives,” “My Name Is Earl” and “CSI: NY.”

“Dancing With the Stars” cred: Placed seventh in Season 6 with partner Fabian Sanchez.
