The Atlanta Jewish Film Festival says hello tonight with its first screening, “Hello Goodbye,” a romantic comedy about a middle-aged Jewish French couple.
The film stars Gerard Depardieu and Fanny Ardant as a couple who visit Israel after their only son’s announcement that he’s getting married —- to a Catholic woman. Tonight’s screening, and another at noon Friday, will include a question-and-answer session with Graham Guit, the film’s director, and Tom Karsch, the film festival’s selection co-chairman.
Opening-night tickets are sold out, but there’s plenty more to come: The film festival is Atlanta’s largest, going on for 12 days, 48 screenings and 15,000 moviegoers.
It runs through Jan. 25 at Regal Atlantic Station, 371 17th St. in Atlanta, Regal Medlock Crossing, 9700 Medlock Bridge Road in Duluth and Lefont Sandy Springs, 5920 Roswell Road in Sandy Springs. For more information, visit www.ajff.org. Tickets are available online, by calling 404-806-9913 or at theaters on screening days.
