The Tennessee Titans got Pro Bowl defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth and end Kyle Vanden Bosch back on the practice field Tuesday. The availability of Pro Bowl center Kevin Mawae against Baltimore depends on who is talking.
During a radio interview before practice Tuesday, Mawae was asked if he would play in Saturday’s playoff game.
“No, I’m not going to play this week,” Mawae said before trying to soften that answer. “It’s still questionable. We’re day to day, and hopefully things progress to where I’ll be able to play.”
Mawae hurt his right elbow on Dec. 21 and missed the regular-season finale in Indianapolis. He has not practiced since. Second-year lineman Leroy Harris started at center in the 23-0 loss to the Colts.
Coach Jeff Fisher said he’s hoping Mawae can play. “He’s day to day, and [we’re] evaluating him throughout the week,” Fisher said.
> BRONCOS: Offensive coordinator Rick Dennison met with team owner Pat Bowlen after expressing interest in the head coaching position following Mike Shanahan’s firing last week. The team also spoke with Dallas offensive coordinator Jason Garrett, and Minnesota defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier will interview today.
> BEARS: Linebackers coach Lloyd Lee was fired.
> CHARGERS: Receiver Vincent Jackson was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving. Jackson, who was on probation for a previous DUI, was jailed in San Diego and released.
> CHIEFS: Ending a 20-year run as the club’s chief executive, Carl Peterson delivered a 40-minute farewell speech to friends and staff, then told reporters that talk of possibly going to work for new ownership in Miami was “pure speculation.”
> COLTS: A gun owned by receiver Marvin Harrison was used in an April shooting, but investigators in Philadelphia still can’t determine who pulled the trigger. No charges have been filed in the April 28 shooting, and the investigation remains open.
Etc… .
After more than a year on the market and a $400,000 price reduction, Michael Vick’s eight-bedroom home in Duluth, which he bought for $3.7 million in 2005, will go on the auction block if a bankruptcy judge in Virginia agrees to the move. The imprisoned quarterback’s lawyers will seek permission to auction the house around Feb. 16.
