GEORGIA TECH: AD, Johnson’s agent discuss Tech contract

Georgia Tech football coach Paul Johnson’s renegotiation will continue.

The school confirmed that athletics director Dan Radakovich met with a representative for Johnson on Thursday, as scheduled.

Neither Radakovich nor Jack Reale, Johnson’s agent, returned messages. A Tech spokesman said Radakovich will not comment on personnel issues.

Radakovich sought to amend Johnson’s seven-year contract just one year into the deal. In Johnson’s first season, he led the Jackets to a 9-3 record, a share of the ACC Coastal Division title and Tech’s first win over Georgia in eight years. Johnson’s contract is worth a minimum of $1.6 million annually, which puts him ahead of some coaches in the ACC but behind others, such as North Carolina’s Butch Davis (reportedly $2.1 million per year).
