THE VENT

$736 million for a 27-building embassy in Iraq? Has our government gone completely mad?

When I send my husband to the grocery store to pick up an item, if there is a way to get it wrong, he will.

Has anyone heard the phrase “I wish the government would leave us alone and just stay out of our business” lately?

Since I have paid a DeKalb sales tax to MARTA for over 25 years, I don’t believe I deserve a fare increase with less service. Let the other counties pay their share for a change!

On that commercial with the raining shoes, how does that deliriously happy lady know if she’s got matching sets in the right size?

The most overused word is “transparency.” If you want people to tell the truth, just say so.

When Kia, Mercedes, Toyota and Honda get into trouble and need a bailout, watch Southern politicians fall over themselves to help.

The people who whine and complain about the high incomes of CEOs and self-made people are the same ones who want to redistribute the wealth.

How come America, the most religious developed nation in the world, has the most Darwinist social policies?

To the venter who wants Obama to “corral” Blagojevich: Is the reason Bush failed at the war on terror his inability to corral Tom DeLay, Ted Stevens and Duke Cunningham?

Now the joy of having a vent published will be diminished by the pain felt if it is not selected as the Vent of the Day.

Leon Panetta for director of the CIA! What is Obama really smoking?

Having just watched “Who Killed the Electric Car?,” I’m more convinced than ever that GM deserves no sympathy.

Count on it: Barack Obama and Tom Daschle will never, in a million years, include themselves and their families in the national health care program they want for the American public.

Norm Coleman is a typical Republican —- doesn’t want all the votes counted, and if they are, he’ll sue if he loses.

There would be a lot less bailouts if legislators had to refund campaign contributions those companies made.

Leon Panetta is a good pick for CIA director, but my choice would be Gen. Colin Powell.

Has anyone else noticed how the city Park Service (now cutting back hours, etc.) sends out four “workers” to mow/clean a public park and three of them stay in the truck, run the heat and talk on cellphones?

Lowering property tax assessments to reflect reduced market values without also cutting the bureaucracies’ budgets will feel good until they raise the rates to cover expenses, and you’re back where you started.

If there is room in the U.S. Senate for a member with comedian Al Franken’s “preparation,” there must also be room for “Well, I mean” Caroline Kennedy.
