ATLANTA GAS SHORTAGE
Canceling UGA game ‘a ridiculous idea,’ governor’s office says
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Thursday, September 25, 2008
Cancel this weekend’s UGA home football game to save gas?
“The governor is not going to consider a ridiculous idea like this,” said Bert Brantley, spokesman for Gov. Sonny Perdue.
In a radio interview Thursday on the continuing gas shortage in metro Atlanta, Tex Pitfield, chief executive of Saraguay Petroleum in Atlanta, suggested that Perdue cancel Saturday’s University of Georgia-Alabama game in Athens.
The aim, Pitfield said, is to prevent the burning of gasoline that it will take to move more than 100,000 people into Athens and out again.
Brantley responded, “We’re also not going to stop living our lives. People understand there are common-sense things they can do.”
Georgians, he said, would rise to the occasion to help conserve gas.

The football game should have been canceled given the outcome and public schools should take two days off to help conserve fuel until it is back online.

Perdue sounds like Marie Antoinette with her "let them eat cake" dismissal of starving subjects. Speaking of French; Perdue is defined as 'lost.' Go onto his website and tell him how unhappy you are. After Katrina he closes the schools when there was no shortage; and now he takes off for Europe and says it's self induced?! In one respect he's right... We put an oil man in the White House and his wonk in the Governor's mansion. Think about this when you VOTE.

This guy Tex must be a Democrat trying to get Perdue to commit an impeachable offense. If only Perdue WOULD, we might be able to save Jekyll Island from him and his cronies. He would certainly be impeached for messing with FOOTBALL!!! This is the South, after all.
