Tyler Durden’s father described his son as “a rescuer.”

When a friend had imbibed too much and needed assistance, he called Tyler.

When an old girlfriend had a fight with her new boyfriend, she called Tyler.

“He just had that rescuer’s mentality,” said Tyler’s father, Benny C. Durden of Grayson. “I know every parent thinks [his or her child] is special, but this boy was something.”

Tyler Drew Durden, 19, of Grayson died Friday in a car accident on Oak Grove Road in Grayson.

The funeral is 1 p.m. Wednesday at Presbyterian Church of the Redeemer in Centerville. Tom M. Wages Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

The 2008 Grayson High School graduate had been a hockey player and wrestler. He was a Georgia Gwinnett College pre-law major who had his eyes on the University of Georgia law school.

Durden of Woodstock; his stepmother, Cindy Reeves Durden of Grayson; a brother, Branden Durden of Grayson; two sisters, Jennifer Worster of Chicago and Natalie Ryan of New York; and two stepbrothers, Jason Reeves of Kennesaw and Nick Reeves of Grayson.
