A California company that transfers home videos to DVD and other digital formats will open a Norcross production center, creating eventually 300 new jobs.
The company, YesVideo, will begin interviewing March 2 and expects to open the center on March 16, said spokeswoman Sharleen Reyes. The center will occupy 30,000 square feet on Oakbrook Parkway in Norcross.
The jobs will be created over the next three years and the deal is expected to result in millions of dollars in capital investments as the company renovates the space and buys new equipment, Gwinnett Chamber spokeswoman Lisa Sherman said.
Most of the jobs will be in shipping and receiving or in video transfer production, Reyes said. Pay will start at $9 an hour, based on experience.
The company’s business has continued to expand despite the poor economy because of the value people place on preserving old memories, she said.
“The need hasn’t stopped,” she said. “Everybody has content they want to preserve.”
The company will get a modest package of incentives for the expansion, which Reyes said will allow YesVideo to more quickly and efficiently serve east coast customers.
YesVideo, based Santa Clara, will receive a job-training package for employees through the Georgia Quick Start program. Spokesman Roger Brown said it’s too early to say how much that training will be worth.
Gwinnett County also will kick in up to $3,000 in permit fee waivers, said Alfie Meek, the county’s economic development manager.
“I think this is a really good success story,” he said.
Reyes said YesVideo planned to put up a web page with application details at http://yesvideo.com/jobs, but the site was not yet live Wednesday afternoon.
