A woman seen in a video threatening an elderly MARTA passenger will remain in jail pending consideration of whether she violated probation from an earlier MARTA altercation.

DeKalb County Jail online records show paperwork was filed Friday to hold Nafiza Ziyad for a probation violation. Bonds totaling $3,000 have been set for Ziyad, but she cannot be released until the probation "hold" is removed.

Ziyad was jailed May 8 for simple assault and other misdemeanors in a March 10 incident. That episode, widely viewed online, included a long tirade against an elderly woman.

Ziyad already was on probation after pleading guilty to spitting in a MARTA police officer's face. Probation officials said in court documents filed last week that the 25-year-old Decatur woman failed to report to probation officers and performed none of the 40 hours of community service ordered by a judge.

A probation officer recommended Ziyad should spend 30 days in jail for the violations.
