Those waiting to learn the fate of their vehicles parked and possibly damaged in Monday’s Centergy Parking ollapse can check their car’s status at www.ga.towedcar.com, the site of the Georgia Towed Vehicle Locator Initiative.

The Atlanta Police Department and two other organizations, A Tow and Compiled Logic, are now relocating and assessing the vehicles as damaged or drivable. After logging in or calling the GTVLI hotline at 404-835-7640, car owners can input their plate number or VIN to find out the status and location of their vehicle, said spokesman Ron Smith with Compiled Logic, which oversees the electronic towing information systems.

How to find your car

If a vehicle is accounted for online, owners can pick it up at the given location with proper identification.

A Tow spokeswoman Page Porter said the towing company is removing one car at a time for safety reasons. Nearly 60 vehicles have been removed and processed, she said.

The Web site is good news for Paul Freet, who fears he lost his Pontiac Grand Am in Monday’s collapse. He took MARTA home to Johns Creek Monday and plans to get a rental car until he learns whether to buy a new vehicle, he said.

“I might have to go to Craigslist to find a new one,” he said.

The GTVLI is a statewide program that shares information with people whose cars were towed without consent by law enforcement agencies, towing and storage companies and residents, Smith said.

Smith advises drivers to keep checking the GTVLI site for updated information if a car is not immediately found.

Drivers can also call A Tow directly at 404-577-8951.
