Woman killed in attempted robbery

A 36-year-old woman was killed early Saturday morning during an attempted robbery in the Hightower Station shopping center on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in west Atlanta.

The woman, identified as Stephanie Seabrum, was leaving a 24-hour check cashing business around 2 a.m. when she was approached by a man, said Eric Schwartz, spokesman for the Atlanta Police Department.

It was unclear if the woman had received money from the business or if she gave any money to the alleged robber, but she was fatally shot, Schwartz said.
