The several rooms of Z Gallerie at Perimeter Mall are packed with home items from around the world. The international selection is a long way from the store’s roots as a small poster shop in California. Founders Joe Zeiden, Carole Mulfatti and Mike Zeiden now have 80 galleries in 25 states that aim to fill a niche in the moderately priced decor market.
The Atlanta galleries arrived in 2000, with locations in Perimeter Mall, Alpharetta and Atlantic Station.
What you’ll find
At the Z Gallerie in Perimeter Mall, furniture collections cover dining and living rooms as well as bedrooms. The range includes glass-topped, wood and mirrored tables; soft sectionals and armchairs; dining chairs; and chests of drawers. They’re brightened by assorted oversize pillows and cushions in a variety of fabrics and accents, including beading and tassels.
Room accents include silk flowers, vases, picture frames, candlesticks and holders, mirrors, coffee table books, candles, wreaths and decorative boxes. Add a whimsical touch with an oversize stuffed zebra or a ceramic pig. One room is devoted entirely to artworks, with and without frames, along with reproductions of famous prints.
Table-top lines include dishes and glassware, as well as a selection of wood bowls and platters. One wall is lined with curtains and window hardware options.
Best-sellers
The Z Gallerie’s “Bling Collection” blows out of the Atlanta stores. The line features candle holders, napkin rings, candlesticks, wall sconces, coasters, pillows and decorative pieces that sparkle with metallic accents and crystals. “Anything with sheen is popular this season, and we carry a huge assortment of glittery accessories to brighten the home,” Z spokesman Gordon Andahl said. Prices range from $10 to $100.
In home furnishings, the Savoy Collection of sofas and armchairs sells well for its comfortable style and soft fabrics in soothing colors —- buckwheat and lentil. Pieces are priced from $1,500 for chairs to $1,900 for sofas.
Trends
Sectional sofas are back, particularly the scaled-back seating arrangements in stock at Z. The store features several lines that work well with Atlanta customers, who are either scaling back or living in lofts and other city units without an enormous amount of floor space, Andahl said.
