Warrant: Bungee cord used in killing
A Pakistani man, apparently upset his daughter wanted out of her arranged marriage, strangled her with a bungee cord, according to arrest warrants revealed Monday afternoon in Clayton County Magistrate Court. Chaudhry Rashid, 54, is charged with murder in the death of his daughter, Sandeela Kanwal, 25, at the family's Utah Drive home in Jonesboro. Rashid is being held without bond in the Clayton County Jail. His first court appearance was continued until this afternoon when Chief Magistrate Daphne Walker learned his primary language is Urdu. Walker said an interpreter will be brought in to help with the judicial proceedings.

Kidnapping victim unnamed at first
Police are trying to determine why the victim of an alleged kidnapping lied about his identity when officers found him walking along a Gwinnett County roadside early Monday morning. A few hours after Gwinnett SWAT officers shot and killed one alleged abductor and arrested a second man in a confrontation at a Waffle House parking lot, an officer spotted the victim, 34year-old David Juan ArceFlores, walking along U.S. 29 near Herrington Road in Lawrenceville. Arce-Flores reportedly was abducted July 1 at his apartment in Sandy Springs. He had managed to escape from the house in Lawrenceville where he was being held captive. Instead of calling out to Gwinnett police for help when he was found, ArceFlores gave the officer a false name and date of birth. ArceFlores had an outstanding warrant for failure to appear in court, and a police spokesman speculated "that may be why he did it."
