AJC 2008 HOME SALES REPORT SLOWDOWN IN SALES Growth in median price has virtually halted in the metro area as a whole. The map compares median home sale prices from 2006 to 2007, measured by percentage change. Color-coded maps of Cherokee, Cobb, DeKalb, Forsyth, Fulton and Gwinnett counties are divided by ZIP code and shaded to indicate the changes in median price from 2006 to 2007. An inset map joins the counties together to form the Area of detail (the metro Atlanta region).
AJC 2008 HOME SALES REPORT HOW THE INFORMATION WAS GATHERED Information was compiled from sales deeds filed at county courthouses. The data was obtained from SmartNumbers, a firm that analyzes home sales data and spots trends in the real estate industry. Condominium and townhome sales are included, but mortgage assumptions, refinances, foreclosures, HUD sales and lot sales are not. ZIP codes reflect those used by the U.S. Postal Service. Data is split for ZIP codes that cross county lines. Rankings of ZIPs only include those with 75 or more sales in 2006 and 2007. Analysts Megan Clarke and Richard Bronosky contributed to this report.
