They are charged in the death of Quinton Antonio Denley, 37. Denley was shot once during the 5 p.m. robbery at a home on Silver Mine Trail. He was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he died.

According to their arrest warrants, the suspects went to the Silver Mine Trail home to buy marijuana from Denley. Instead, they ended up trying to rob Denley. Denley was shot with a Lorcin .380 semi-automatic pistol.

Days' arrest warrant says they went to the home to buy 3 to 4 pounds of marijuana.

About six hours after the shooting, Hatton got out of a vehicle driven by Whiting in a parking lot on Mableton Parkway and fired several shots at a man walking down the road, hitting him once in the lower abdomen, said Officer Cassie Reece, a Cobb police spokeswoman.

A short time later, Cobb police officers spotted the suspects' vehicle, and a brief chase ended in Atlanta.

Investigators later connected Hatton, Whiting and Boykins, who was also in the vehicle, to the Silver Mine Trail slaying. They are each charged with felony murder, armed robbery and conspiracy to commit armed robbery.

Hatton also was charged with aggravated assault in connection with the shooting of the pedestrian.

The man shot while walking along Mableton Parkway is expected to survive his wounds, she said.
