A former Cobb County teacher was acquitted Monday, more than two years after being accused of molesting a 6-year-old student.
Gregory A. Leontovich, 50, was charged with aggravated child molestation on the Smyrna campus of Green Acres Elementary School in September 2005.

The girl said the assault took place in one of the school's restrooms.
Leontovich's attorney, Barry Hazen, said the county's case fell apart when it was revealed by the girl's teacher that students at the school were not allowed to go to the bathroom without a "buddy." "That teacher was never interviewed (by police)," Hazen said.
Leontovich, who began teaching in Cobb County in 1992, has been working sporadically since his arrest. An acquittal won't erase the stigma attached to the molestation charge, Hazen said.
"It's a scarlet letter," he said.
Hazen said his client wouldn't go back to teaching even if he was offered a job.
"As this case shows, it's a risky profession," he said.
