Published on: 07/31/08

Each week CityLife Opinions asks readers to comment on a topic in the news. This week's topic is:

Are you riding a bicycle more often due to high gas prices? If so, do you feel safe on a bike? Please explain.

Background: Cycling advocates say that due to high gas prices, this summer could be plagued by bike injuries. Take the area's dearth of bike paths, add aggressive motorists, then toss in bikers who haven't been on the roads for decades.

("Rookie and rusty cyclists hit streets —- and hospital," AJC News, July 21).

Across the metro area, bike business is booming. Sales of new bikes are up and people are bringing older bikes out of storage and having them reconditioned.
