DECATUR: Mayors participate in annual bike ride

Nearly 2,000 cyclists are expected to take to the streets next month as part of an annual ride in support of improved conditions for bicycling in Georgia.

Decatur Mayor Bill Floyd and Roswell Mayor Jere Wood will kick off police-escorted rides from their respective cities as part of the "Georgia Rides to the Capitol" event on March 11.

The two rides will converge for the final approach to the Capitol in downtown Atlanta and be joined by Mayor Shirley Franklin, among others.

Registration for the event, designed to boost support for a system of regional bike and walking paths, is free and open to the public. For more information or to register, visit
