Barbara Rainone, formerly of Memorial Regional Hospital and Joe Dimaggio Children’s Hospital in Hollywood, Fla., has been named new lab director at Henry Medical Center.

Colonial Properties Trust of Atlanta, a diversified real estate investment trust, has promoted Lee Nelson to senior vice president of office leasing and asset management.

Simon Rusconi has been named general manager of the St. Regis Atlanta Hotel & Residences, scheduled to debut in the spring.

Beverly A. Scott, general manager and CEO of MARTA, has been elected chairwoman of the board of directors of the American Public Transportation Association.

Marylouise Fitzgibbon, formerly with Starwood Hotels for 16 years, has been named general manager of W Atlanta —- Buckhead, a luxury hotel brand. The management team also includes Wendy Smith, Bill Helms, Rod Renner, Manuel Calderon, Marc Adrar and Kelly Spikes.

Emory University cancer researcher Jing Chen has earned a $720,000 award from the American Cancer Society to work on a new drug targeting multiple myeloma, one of the most common blood cancers found in patients over 65.

Dr. Max Cooper has been honored by the Association of American Medical Colleges with its 2008 award for distinguished research in biomedical sciences.

Allen Aldridge has been named senior vice president and asset manager of the Southeast region of Newport Beach, Calif.-based KBS Realty Advisors, one of the nation’s leading commercial real estate investment advisers. He was formerly with Chicago-based CMD Realty Investors.

Devin Releford has been promoted to senior account coordinator at Schroder PR, an Atlanta-based communications firm.

The American Cancer Society has named Dr. Victor Vogel as its new national vice president for research.

Jeff Boyd, formerly CEO of Miles Electric Vehicles, has been named president of the Wheego Street Division of Ruff and Tuff Electric Vehicles.

Betsy Sheppard has been named treasurer of the 50+ Atlanta Housing Council and has become a member of the National Association of Professional Women. She is president of B. Sheppard Consulting Inc.

Jeff Benson has been named business development manager at Jefferson Wells, a global provider of internal audit and controls, technology risk management, tax and finance and accounting-related services.

The Turknett Leadership Group has named Randall Lucius to head its new human performance consulting division. Lucius has been in the leadership, employee and organizational assessment business for more than 10 years.

Kari Gibson Hackett has been promoted to vice president of member services and special events for the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce. The chamber also has promoted Rebecca Brubaker to vice president —- membership development.
