Rob Wassem, the CEO of the North American unit of a window-treatment company, Silent Gliss, can easily spend all day in his car.
He typically starts from home in Norcross, makes several business stops in Buckhead and then heads downtown to meet clients. His weeks usually aren't complete without winding through traffic snarls and making several trips to the gas station.

| Rob Wassem and his sales team use a GPS application to navigate traffic and to locate gas stations with the lowest prices. |
A couple of clicks on his cellphone, however, and Wassem can find his way out of a traffic jam or to the nearest — and cheapest — filling station.
His phone is equipped with GPS and a service ($10 a month for basic) that tracks prices at each station. He can type in an address or zip code, and the phone speaks directions to the location with the best buy.
"That whole process takes me less than a minute," Wassem said. "It talks to you, you don't have to look at it. You set it beside you, and you have a passenger beside you, and it's your phone, and the passenger will tell you, 'Take a right here, take a left here.' "
Wassem says the gadget has kept his sales team from wasting gas.
"They are kind of hunters in the field, and all of the sudden they are out of fuel and don't know where they are," Wassem said. "It saves a sizable amount of money from a fuel standpoint, and quite frankly, it saves time because our people aren't tied up on the road."
